I'm playing two sets outside for The Open Tuning Festival on June 21st: 4:30pm @ 99 Barton 6:45pm @ Batemans Bikes
Hope to see you in the street!!!!
Here is some background on this very cool festival taking over the annex:
"On Saturday June 21st, a unique day-long free music festival takes place in downtown Toronto's Seaton Village-West Annex neighbourhood. ... OPEN TUNING is a free music festival and a celebration of community and summer. Inspired by "La fete de la musique" in Paris, the festival is a 100% independent and community-driven, with zero corporate sponsorship or advertising.
What makes OPEN TUNING unique is the variety of non-traditional venues and "pop-up" stages combined with our all-inclusive performer policy. Festival audiences roaming the community's streets, lane-ways, parks and cafes can see middle school youth bands with 2 or 3 songs under their belts or listen to some our city's more seasoned talent - and maybe even catch one or two internationally recorded artists - as they perform all styles of music from rock, folk, opera, techno, classical a capella, ukulele jams and more."Meer weergeven
Playing this sweet festival at two neat locations in my neighborhood on June 21st. Come Enjoy The Open Tuning Festival on June 21st. My sets: 4:30pm @ 99 Barton 6:45pm @ Batemans Bikes
I had a gigantic burst of creativity a couple of nights ago and wrote some very interesting stuff.
Since the first two recordings were completed (gonna post those bad boys shortly) when I get to writing I'm always thinking of how they are going to be recorded/documented and I go into a blissful daydream thinking about tracking parts, hearing them over the system, working out sections, tempos, dr...ums, bass, the smell of the studio and how happy I am to spend a whole day in a room with good people making music.
Sometimes the best things you write happen at times when you don't expect to write anything at all, similar to saying the best pictures are taken when you don't realize someone is taking a picture.
I write in a small room with red walls and its crazy when I can imagine the whole room set on fire with ideas and glimpses into what they will grow to be. Simply from an acoustic guitar and a voice.Meer weergeven
Hey, you know what? Myself and the lads The Hotel Bible and also play in other bands that are great. Weaves, The Holy Gasp, Chrymes, Moves, and Neon Windbreaker. Check out all these bands. They are all worth your time.
Very excited to announce that I will be performing at the first annual OpenTuningFestival that takes place on the porches, alleyways, and other fine locations in the Seaton Village/Annex area on June 21. Come pass me by, say hello and stick around for a tune or two.
Two new songs done at Candle Recording! Very happy with the result. Mixing is next week. In the meantime, come hear the new tunes as well as the old ones at Lees Palace this Thursday. It'll be a swell time.
