As previously announced, our last Charter Member, Ernie McChesney (shown here with some of our PERs at the Lodge’s 75th Anniversary in 2010), died peacefully last Thursday, March 1, at the age of 104. Ernie joined the State College Lodge at its founding in 1935 at the age of 21, and was an Elk for an astounding 83 years.
The family will hold a Memorial Service for Ernie this Sunday, March 11th, at 3 pm at Koch's Funeral Home. Immediately prior to that service (at approximat...ely 2:50 pm), a distinguished team of Past District Deputies and Past Exalted Rulers of our Lodge, under the leadership of Past State President George Olson, will exemplify the Elks Memorial Service in honor of our Charter Member and his unprecedented longevity as an Elk.
All Elks are invited and encouraged to attend the Elks service at 2:50 pm, and to participate by depositing the clinging ivy after the service. If you have any questions, please contact Lodge Secretary, David Harry, at 548-7926.
It is with a great deal of sadness that I have to announce that our last Charter Member, Ernie McChesney (shown here with the PERs at our Lodge's 75th Anniversary in 2010), passed away peacefully Thursday at the age of 104. Ernie joined the State College Elks at its founding in 1935 at the age of 21 and was an Elk for an astounding 83 years - a legacy that will not be equaled. "We shall meet, but we shall miss him - there will be the vacant chair. But though we no more possess him, still our hearts his memory bear. But awhile we gathered, friendship beaming in each eye. Now the golden cord is severed, he has passed to realms on high." To our beloved Absent Member
A memorial service will be held for Ernie on Sunday, March 11th at 3 pm.at Koch Funeral Home.

“Many changes are happening up at the Mountain View Country Club. The construction of the new 3-Story Wyndham Garden hotel is now clearly visible from both Routes 322 and 45, and the interior renovations inside the building have also begun.
The 19th Hole is being completely remodeled and is scheduled to reopen sometime in March 2018. Thanks to the current owners, the State College Elks were given the opportunity to raise money for our charities by finding good homes for all o...f the old tables, chairs, bar top, and bar stools that were used in the 19th Hole for many years.
Special thanks to those Elk members and others who came out and took items to help us with this fundraiser. They were: Randy Aikens, Stan Lindsay Jr., Lisa Schroeder, Robert Siegenthaler, Ruth Eby - Owner of the Sunset West Restaurant and The Juniata Valley Council - Boy Scouts of America.
We look forward to seeing all of you back up at Mountain View when the 19th Hole reopens!”
Lisa Schroeder, PDDGER
A good turnout was enjoyed at the Mountain View Country Club when Santa came to visit. Breakfast was fantastic and everyone enjoyed the event a great deal. The kids all received a little gift packet of goodies after their visit.
