All those who knew and loved Tobie Ferguson, who worked at Holston Elem and Middle for many years.......
She passed into heaven this morning. She was a very very special person and will be missed by all of us who loved her
Just to give you a little advance notice for planning.......spring meeting will be Saturday, May 5 at Central High. We are still studying the idea of moving meetings to a weekday and should have an update on it at this meeting.
This is important. Please help
This morning, the White House released the budget proposal for FY 2019. The proposal eliminates funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).... IMLS provides more than $183.6 million for libraries through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). The proposal also eliminates funding for the Innovative Approaches to Literacy program, a Department of Education program that provides $27 million for school libraries.
Ultimately, Congress has final say over the budget. Today, let Congress know that federal library funding is important to you and your community. Use the talking points on ala.org/takeaction or visit ala.org/fundlibraries. #FundLibraries #SaveIMLS
For all those who know and love our beloved Tobie from Holston Middle and Elementary

It is with great sadness that I report that we have lost our good friend and fellow teacher Jennie Rutherford this morning. She was a wonderful person and dedicated teacher at Holston Elementary only retiring this past spring. I will post arrangements when I know.
Many of you know Tobie Ferguson, who was secretary at Holston Middle and before that an aide at Holston Elementary. Her husband, Allen, has posted that she is in terrible pain and has entered a hospice pain management plan to try and deal with it and give her some relief. Please keep her in your prayers and maybe send her a card. Her address is 113 Jackson Hollow road Kingsport
Also our dear friend and member, Jennie Rutherford, who taught at Holston Elementary needs our prayers as she is now in hospice care.
Please remember these dear friends during this holiday season
Those members who did not attend our Christmas meeting and lunch last Saturday you missed a wonderful time. Everyone was in a festive mood......
meeting and visiting with friends and former coworkers. Many came in their festive sweaters, coats and vests. We had simply wonderful holiday music from Phillips and Banks. Three of the four members of the group are former Sullivan County students. The group is very talented and presented a fantastic program. Everyone enjoyed ...the buffet at Momma's House. Prizes were given for best holiday attire and many door prizes of fruit baskets and poinsettias were given away.
Special thanks to member Dr. Janie McNew who made beautiful stained glass ornaments for our two top prize winners. They were beautiful.
Members brought donations for the Akard center which helps Sullivan County students and their families with necessities. We also gave quarters for the Oasis center to power the machines for women who need a place to do laundry for their family.
Everyone had a great time.
Mr. Cloninger was not retired but I know many of you would want to know this. This man was truly a great man, wonderful teacher who touched so many lives and has left us far too soon. Our hearts break for his wonderful wife who also is a teacher and for their children. Please lift this family in prayer
