Bicycling Around New Orleans Some things make New Orleans a great bike city. Other things pose real challenges, but overall, I think the good outweighs the bad. On the plus side, the city is extremely flat, and except by the water, the winds are usually fairly gentle. The core of the city is quite.....

Since 2010, on some days of Jazzfest, you may have noticed the colorfully painted produce truck parked on the Fairgrounds infield, near the Jazz & Heritage stage.  Mr Okra was there to provide a small glimpse into an almost-bygone slice of New Orleans culture, but also provided a…

Just announced on the official Jazzfest Facebook feed: "LL COOL J feat. DJ Z-Trip added to the Jazz Fest lineup on Friday, May 4". Checking the current performers for that day, I don't see anyone at the top removed, so this looks like an addition and not a replacement.  Look for.....

Where did the posts go?

Most of the Jazzfest news items are initially posted to my blog on LiveJournal, then automatically posted here as links on the Swagland Facebook page. The blog is also the source of the overnight emails that many of you subscribe to.

Non-Jazzfest-specific news tidbits, such as stories about musicians or the city, don't get blogged, because I don't overwhelm email inboxes; they are posted directly here.

Anyway, this week Facebook apparently decided that the auto-posted links to the blog were spam, and deleted them all going back to September, with no notice or notification. They're just gone. Along with that, any comments you may have posted are also gone, and if you shared any of the stories, those shares may also be inaccessible. My apologies for that, it was completely beyond my control.

The direct Facebook posts are all still here, I think.

All of the original posts are still intact on the blog at, so you can view or search there if you're looking for an old story.
