Our experience at Sweet wasn't very sweet at all. It was actually quite sour. After a rough week, we had a gift card to use up before they shut down next weekend so we decided it would be a great time... to use it to boost our morale. We brought our 2 young children with us and were hoping for a nice evening out for desserts. Our desserts were tasty, but beyond that, they were very small. If I didn't nibble at mine (coconut trés leche), I could've eaten the whole thing in 3 bites. My husband asked our waiter for the bartender to be creative by making a martini with Disaronno in it, and the waiter brought him pretty much Disaronno on the rocks... 30 minutes after we ordered our drinks. I had even specifically ordered my drink to go WITH my dessert (even making that statement twice to our waiter), and I sat with my dessert in front of me for that 30 minutes before I could start enjoying it with my drink. Then when my husband mentioned to the waiter that he was hoping for something creative, he gave my husband attitude like he was supposed to know that you have to tell them specifically what to make if it's not on the menu. When you ask for something creative, that means you use your imagination. If they can't use their imagination like that, they should say so ahead of time. So then my husband ordered a different drink that we had to wait yet another 20 minutes for, all the while the rest of us had finished our desserts and beverages and my little ones were starting to get fussy, so my husband didn't get to truly enjoy his drink. While the flavors were very sweet, the rest of the experience was not sweet at all. It's no wonder they're GOOB. See More

I went with my husband Friday night. We have been there multiple times before. We left the restaurant we were at to have dessert there. After my husband ordered his drink we were then told we could no...t have a cannoli and a cupcake. My husband has been in the restaurant business for over 20 years. I understand the reasoning behind the change, but do not agree with how they handle this situation. First of all, don't have the desserts that you can't order in your dining room. Also if we were told upon being asked if we were there for dessert, that we couldn't have the desserts in the case we would have left. Being told after drinks were ordered is not acceptable. Horrible business plan. We will not return again. The only good this was the manager on, sad to hear she is leaving because she had wonderful customer service. See More

Walked into sweet tonight to get an after dinner beverage and was told by the hostess we weren't allowed to sit at the bar. Sorry bartender - you looked really bored!! After I ordered our canolis to ...go I asked for the reasoning and was told "I don't make the rules but since you ordered to go I guess I can't stop you." Sorry we'll now take our business elsewhere - never again will I step into this establishment! See More

If you are going to a place called Sweets. ....don't you think that you could order their sweets and eat them there. NO...We ordered drinks and we're told that if we ordered cupcakes from the take ou...t, we could not them at the table. We did anyway and were approached by the manager that they are concentrating on the food menu, not the sweets that they are know for. It was almost as if we came in with someone else's cupcakes. So the waitress only got a tip on the dirinks, not for the "takeout" we bought. It was extremely akward to be approached by the manager and pretty much be told that we should not eat their product in their restaurant. Unbelievable. We won't be back. See More

Real time review.

Came here at 230 pm on a saturday for a qwik snack with my lady. Sat at the bar as to not be a bother. Bartender wasnt very friendly. There was a feeling in the air as though we w...ere intruding. My girl got toast and i ordered a sticky bun.. well. Turns out the sticky bun comes from the case and it was cold and hard. With no offer to warm.. And it took a half hour for her toast to come out AND they didnt give her any jelly as stated on the menu. uggh. Nice place at night when the staff actually care.. but the daytime service is less than desirable... fyi. Its now 3:15 on the same day.. we are outta here.... See More

The bartender seemed like she didn't want to be bothered by our excitement for brunch. Her service was short and unpeasing. By the time she brought me butter for the pancakes, they were cold. Also, ca...n someone explain how on a brunch morning the place didn't have any bacon or sausage? I figured the most appropriate thing would be to go purchase some or inform people who want those items of a discount choice due to the fact, they were out. Neither of the two occurred. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. However, the breakfast (poutine) was tasty, so I can't be too harsh. I'd go back, but call ahead to assure all the ingredients to the menu were there. See More

I have been here a few times and I am never disappointed. Most recently my boyfriend and I went for Valentine's Day and at the end of the night the staff sent us home with housemade syrup to make our... own soda. The staff is friendly and attentive without hovering. The atmosphere is energetic and hip but most importantly the food is amazing. Come for a full meal or just for unique delicious desserts, everything is great! I couldn't imagine how anyone could be disappointed by what Sweet has to offer. I would recommend Sweet to anyone that likes locally sourced, fresh food that is really well prepared and creative! I can't wait to go back! See More

This place is phenomenal! I threw a baby shower here for my sister-in-law on Saturday, June 11 and the entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. We worked with Kim and she could not have... been more helpful. Leading up to our event, she was very responsive and accommodating over the phone, via email and in person. When we unexpectedly had to change the date of the event, she was more than willing to work with us to find a solution. She also assisted with food selection to ensure that we had a good mix of food for our guests. On the day of our event, Kim was there to assist with whatever we needed. We had reserved the mezzanine space, which was set up beautifully when we arrived. The whole building has a great vibe and the mezzanine space was no exception. I loved it, a much better choice for the baby shower than many of our other more traditional options. There is also an elevator up to the mezzanine space, which was very helpful both for the less mobile guests but also for bringing the gifts back down to our cars at the end of the event.

Kim (and Maria who assisted her) was more than willing to accommodate our requests as we decorated for the baby shower. We showed up an hour and a half before our event began and the space was already good to go. They even provided little bouquets of flowers to put on the tables! During the event, Kim checked in with us the perfect amount of times. She was there whenever we needed anything but it never felt like she was intruding. The baby shower went perfectly and a big part of that was the excellent staff at Sweet. I am sure a ton of work went on behind the scenes but it went so smoothly, it looked effortless. I can’t thank Kim and Maria enough for all their hard work.

If anyone is looking for the perfect place to host a baby shower or similar event, I would highly recommend Sweet.

Sweet is always a wonderful stop when my friends and I are craving a unique and delicious dining experience-- not just for dessert, but why lie? We're driven by the dessert.
We went last night; the was only about five minutes, but it was still quite busy. Our server, Josh, was very friendly and attentive. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and have a fun experience.
We got their incredible rainbow fries, perfectly cooked thick-cut pork chop, and the cheese board, dressed to the nines and presented flawlessly. We ended the night with milk and cookies, and a couple "hot chocolate" sundaes--It doesn't sound fancy, but the sundae is one of a kind, the spiced walnuts and the touch of cinnamon in the chocolate ice cream give it a beautiful kick.
Long-winded already, I can't list every reason why Sweet is one of the best stops on Shrewsbury St. You've got to go for yourself to try it.

We hosted a brunch baby shower at Sweet. Working with Kim was a pleasure, she helped facilitate everything from menu to day of service. The food was wonderful. Our only complaint was the loudness. It ...was very loud up in the loft, so we had a difficult time hearing. Next time I might choose a Saturday or post-brunch on Sunday, but for a shower it wasn't that important. See More

last night was my girlfriend and I second visit to sweet(first for dinner). The hostess greeted and sat us with a huge smile, starting off the night right. I can not speak highly enough about our, Michelle, who had a friendly, fun personality, and we shared a ton of laughs...she was top notch! we had a little trouble finding a beer since a few were out, but that was no big deal. for dinner we ordered the steak frites and the short ribs. The chef clearly takes pride in the local ingredients she uses and the presentation. The meal was incredible! To finish we ordered the dosants and the apple kuchen. both were phenomenal endings. this was by far the best dining experience we've ever had, id give you more stars if I could. very well done sweet! We came in from out of town and were wowed! The food was absolutely amazing - I had the duck fat poutine and it was absolutely fantastic. Also, our server, Natalie, was phenomenal. She was very fri...endly and knowledgeable - didn't steer us wrong on a single suggestion. This place is forever a must on our list whenever we visit from now on! One word? Brunch, baby. See More

It's of no surprise they are now gone. Look for my Yelp review for more info. A chef with this pedigree should have run a much, much better restaurant than this.

We frequent this restaurant on a regular basis and usually service is decent - Sunday nights, though, are apparently abysmal. After waiting 40 minutes with nothing but waters, our waiter (who we were ...later told was also the manager this evening), comes up and asks, "Have I forgotten anything other than the food?" a restaurant. And that was his opening line. What?

Extremely disappointing. Took us almost two hours for a simple one-course meal. We didn't stay for dessert and took our food to go.

Even though there was not a lot of people in the place, we still waited over 20 mins to put in an order. The dessert we had was stale and tasted more like a Nutella rice cake. They also had a take out... dessert spot, but refused to let us order anything from there (the take out dessert case looked so much better than what we were served and had more variety) and eat it at our table, even though we ordered drinks. For two drinks and a stale/bland dessert, our bill was just about 40 dollars. Definitely not worth anyone's time or money. See More

Very disappointed to learn that we weren't able to get a table downstairs since all we wanted was dessert and coffee. We did get a seat upstairs, where no one else was seated and once we were served,... no one ever came back to check on us to see if we wanted anything else. See More
