Tissue or Sim?? How do you prefer to do your training? I've done ATLS both ways and I have to say that invivo training is amazing, but I also feel that sim training has something to offer. Check out these full synthetic cadavers available from SynDaver. They also offer wearable chest tube trainers and stand alone cric trainers. Good stuff!
Here's a podcast we did with Mike Seeklander, FLETC instructor, Marine, and shooting coach.

Alright. Listen up... do not under any circumstances allow a gap in your situational awareness. Do not forget the lessons we have learned during our time at the GWOT University. Boston is a nexus. We know this. For those in other AO, you know your exposure. This is the real.
A tissue demo of the celox Z-fold gauze in our Enhanced EDC kit. At this point Celox is the best hemostatic on the market.

In addition to being a fearless, high speed, low drag, life-saving, death-dealing, BAMF the field medic is also expected to serve as a highly mobile and stable field expedient firing position. Happy Veterans Day to every Medic and Corpsman, past and present.
Master Chief Harry Bologna (ret.) was gravely injured last month during ground operations in Afghanistan. Master Chief Bologna is a legend in the SPECWAR community and has served around the globe during his active duty career. I've had the pleasure of training with Harry, he is a gifted instructor and a genuinely nice guy.
If you're able, please take a moment to support Master Chief Bologna and his family.
Who trains with anatomical targets? Are you shooting for the 10-ring or the mediasteinum??

I had an officer in my Basic Trauma Management for Shooters course yesterday who served in Fallujah and participated in the warrant service which resulted in the death of Chief Michael Maloney and the injury of four other officers last year in Greenland, New Hampshire. I want to thank him for his first hand account of these events and for casting a very harsh light on the realities of a gunfight.

With the natural disaster that is currently unfolding in Oklahoma, I think it's time we all asked ourselves what we would do if a member of our family suffered a critical injury? Could you provide the immediate care necessary to save their life? While BTMS is focused on injuries that result from vi...olence, these skills work on any traumatic injury. Get trained, get kit, and stay safe.
See MoreIn response to the attack on the City of Boston, I am offering a free day of range training. I've done this before, and I will keep doing it. Every time they hit us I will train you. This class will be held north of Boston at the "usual place," and will likely be conducted mid week. We must hang together, or we will certainly all hang separately. Please inbox me for more details.
My friends, I have been teaching Trauma Management programs to Law Enforcement, .MIL groups, and Civilians for nearly 15 years. It is the responsibility of every one who considers themselves a sheepdog to know how to administer first aid in a dynamic situation. I am asking every one of my friends to please share this post. If I can train one person to save one victim, my career as an Instructor will have been a success. Please go to my websight and facebook page for more information. http://wayofthegun.com/
