TalkRadio 1380 WMLP, Mid-Penn Engineering Corporation and Moon Shine Camo salute all of the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. Today for Military Monday we posthumously salute Leonard Wasileski formerly of Mount Carmel. Leonard served as a Water Tender 2nd Class in the Navy during and after World War II. He was assigned to several war ships from 1944 to 1946, and took part in the liberation of the Philippines, Battle of Iwo Jima and the Battle of Okinawa to name a few. We posthumously salute Leonard Wasileski for his service.

Today for Military Monday we salute James Tracy of Selinsgrove. James served in the Marines from 1993 to 2014 with the 1st Battalion, 8th Marines from Twentynine Palms and San Diego California as well as Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He served twice in Afghanistan and receive multiple awards and recognition. James Tracy of Selinsgrove, we salute you.

Today for Military Monday we salute Ethan Mull of Middleburg. Ethan is a firefighter with the 45th Civil Engineering Squadron in the US Air Force stationed at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida. Today for Military Monday we salute William Gudonis of Mt Carmel. William served with the US Army and Army Reserves from 1989 to 1997. He was stationed at Ft Dix, NJ and with the 365th in Schuylkill Haven as a heavy combat engineer. William joined because he felt it was his turn to serve as his two great uncles did in WW2 and uncle did in Vietnam. William Gudonis, we salute you.

Today for Military Monday we posthumously salute the late Robert K. Mertz of Northumberland. Robert served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II in the US Navy’s Naval Armed Guard. He served on the Liberty Ship SS Stephen A. Douglas during the first part of his military service receiving the Combat Action Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the China Service Medal. We posthumously salute the late Robert K. Mertz of Northumberland.

Today for Military Monday we salute Robert W. Wendt of Sunbury. Robert served as a Platoon Sargent in the Army’s 24th Infantry in New Guinea and Luzon prior to being assigned to the 281st Replacement Company from 1943 to 1946. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Metal and Liberation of The Philippines Metal during his service in World War II. Robert W. Wendt, we salute you.

Today for Military Monday we salute those service men and women lost 76 years ago in the attack on Pearl Harbor. On a peaceful Sunday morning first wave of Japanese airplanes left 6 aircraft carriers and struck Pearl Harbor just before 8 AM local time. In two waves lasting two hours, 3,500 Americans were killed or wounded. 18 ships were sunk or badly damaged including all 8 battleships of the Pacific Fleet and over 350 aircraft were destroyed or damaged including at least 1,177 lives lost when the Battleship U.S.S. Arizona exploded and subsequently sank. Today we remember the Day of Infamy.

Today for Military Monday we salute Justin Barton of Selinsgrove. Justin served in the Army as an Abram Tank Crewman and Commander from 2006 to 2016 in Iraq, Kuwait and Africa. He has 5 Army Achievement Medals, 7 Army Commendation Medals as well as 3 Good Conduct Medals and service awards. Justin currently serves in the Selinsgrove Army Recruiting Center and is originally form Cincinnati, Ohio. Justin Barton, we salute you.
