Something that needs to be addressed. Net Neutrality is a HUGE issue and deserves a lot of our attention, there's little doubt about that. However, tomorrow morning when you wake up, the internet is going to work just like it did today. We lost a battle in the war today but we are not going down without a fight and since the vast majority of the people want Net Neutrality, it is going to be tough for them to dismantle it. The FCC vote today was just one of the steps for them and now is NOT the time to give up and act like they have won the war, because they haven't.

The decision of the Seattle Police Department’s Force Review Board is shameful.

According to the Seattle Times Wednesday, they somehow decided that shooting a s...mall, pregnant mother of four, in front of her children, shooting her seven times, including twice in the back, is reasonable and consistent with the Seattle Police Department’s policies.

In other words, the leadership of the Seattle Police Department thinks this sort of brutal violence is reasonable. And if anyone had doubt in the past, it is now clear that the SPD cannot be trusted to police themselves.

And to be clear, despite the reassuring words by the politicians in City Hall about civilian oversight, the Office of Professional Accountability recommendations and the King County inquest that are upcoming will both base themselves on whatever evidence was collected by the SPD Force Review Board’s internal self-investigation.

And what does the SPD choose to investigate when their officers shoot and kill people? They investigate the victim, not the shooters. The public now knows how many kitchen knives Charleena Lyles kept in her kitchen, but we do not know the Use of Force histories of the officers who shot her.

At a City Council committee meeting, I asked the former director Murphy of the Office of Professional Accountability if they consider past use of force when they investigate deadly police shootings, and he said they don’t even look at it.

I guarantee that if you or I as an ordinary person shot someone seven times, the SPD would be interested if we had a history of violence, but they are not interested in that when they investigate their own officers.

The Force Review Board is a total waste of taxpayer money, because we know their conclusion before they start their investigation, and not just in Seattle.

Across the United States, police officers have killed thousands of people in recent years, including one thousand one hundred fifty five last year alone. With these one thousand one hundred fifty five police killings only 13 officers faced charges and none were convicted – even when the victims were unarmed, and the killing was videotaped.

So we know the King County inquest into Charleena’s death will not bring her and her family justice. And we know that the next ten inquests into the next ten times the SPD kill people will be the same. And officers know that too.

If one officer was held accountable for killing someone, anywhere in the country, officers would think twice before using deadly force and it would save lives.

But that will not happen as long as the political establishment is happy to allow the police to investigate themselves.

In June, we demanded an independent investigation into Charleena Lyles death, and the SPD’s Force Review Board has again just demonstrated why.

To be clear about how unaccountable the SPD is, Police Chief O’Toole has not been willing to come speak to an open City Council meeting in over a year. And the important questions we asked on June 20 about the SPD’s use of force policies such as what is the use of force histories of the officers involved in the last 10 fatal shootings, have not yet been seriously answered.

And without answering our questions, without coming to the public hearing into Charleena Lyles death or any other council meetings, they turn around and ask us to trust them, to trust them when they say this killing is just and their process is reasonable.

They put more bullets into Charleena Lyles body than all the police of Finland together fired in a whole year according to statistics from the Guardian newspaper, and the Force Review Board thinks this is reasonable.

I think this is shameful.

The FCC is doing the bidding of big business like Comcast, not the voters of either party, because public opinion is clear: 76% favor net neutrality, even inclu...ding 73% of Republican voters.

Olympia should urgently pass net neutrality legislation in Washington State, and Seattle must invest in building municipal broadband, so no internet corporation has the power to prioritize making money over our democratic rights.

Here are the facts:

1) Congress can stop the FCC and overrule their vote using the Congressional Review Act

2) It only takes a simple majority in the Senate and... House

3) 83% of voters support net neutrality regardless of political party

We can do this, here's how: BattleForTheNet.com

12/11/2017 - TACOMA, WASHINGTON

Two water protectors lock themselves to a crane at Puget Sound Energy's LNG construction site in a defiant act of civil disobedi...ence. Construction was halted for the day as tribal members and Tacoma residents gathered in front of the gates of the site to speak out against the project.

The direct action took place on the first day of the trial of the SUPER 6 who were being charged with multiple felonies for their protest on May 17th.

Please support the front line water protectors here in Tacoma and read more about the LNG project below:

WHAT IS LNG:
Natural gas is a fossil fuel predominantly composed of methane (which is 84x more powerful as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide in its first 20 years in the atmosphere). It is typically extracted via fracking deep rock formations underground. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas converted to liquid by cooling it to -260 degrees F.
Location:
 Puget Sound Energy (PSE) wants to put their 8 million gallon, 14-story tall fracked gas tank at the Port of Tacoma.
 PSE’s LNG facility is located on the Cascadian fault in a zone at risk for earthquakes, lahars, and tsunamis. A study conducted by the City of Tacoma predicts the Port will be flooded by 2050.
 This facility is being built in the heart of a metropolitan area where over 200,000 people live, work, and play and in an industrial center which would have a compounding effect in the event of a fire or explosion.
Environmental Justice:
 People of color and of low income are the first to be impacted by climate change.
 1,600 men and women detained at the Northwest Detention Center, a for-profit immigration prison, would be sitting ducks in the event of an emergency as there is no evacuation plan other than to “shelter in place.”
 Indigenous People and residents of rural communities often bear the brunt of harm caused by fracking wells and natural gas pipelines.
PSE LNG:
NOT LOCAL NOT SAFE NOT CLEAN
Who is Puget Sound Energy:
 While it sounds like a public utility, PSE is a for- profit corporation based in Bellevue but controlled by the Macquarie group of Australia.
 The media has reported widely on the Macquarie Group’s unethical and predatory business practices.
 PSE’s owner, the Macquarie Group, is known for high margins. The Australian media calls the group “The Millionaire Factory.” The CEO of PSE’s Australian owner made $18 million in 2016.
 Profits from PSE’s LNG facility will flow to Bellevue and Sydney, Australia, while Tacomans are stuck with the pollution.
Violation of Puyallup Tribe’s Treaty Rights:
 The Tribe was not meaningfully consulted and the LNG facility would endanger tribal fishing rights. The Puyallup Tribe has filed legal appeals to various permits and has issued several agencies with a request for immediate action to stop all construction.
Safety:
 A leak could cause an explosive vapor cloud capable of extending more than 3.5 miles in any direction.
 A spill can burn at 3500 degrees F. This fire would be so hot it would melt steel up to 1⁄2 mile away and incinerate everything within a mile radius, including people.

LNG IS BAD FOR TACOMA, BAD FOR THE PUYALLUP TRIBE, AND BAD FOR THE PLANET.
RISKS OF LNG CONTINUED...
Shifting Financial Costs:
 PSE is receiving a huge public subsidy on their LNG project by passing 43% of the capital costs on to PSE ratepayers. That means we will be stuck paying an estimated $133 million.
 PSE pays no sales tax on the construction.
 PSE is also getting an $8 million dollar tax break every biennial funding cycle, which works out to
$4 million per year. (Imagine how profitable solar or wind energy projects would be if they received a similar deal).
 The City of Tacoma will pay $1.5 million every budget for LNG fire protection and emergency response.
Liability:
 In order to avoid responsibility for an accident or disaster at the LNG facility, PSE created a shell company, Puget LNG, which is a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC).
 The Port of Tacoma is self-insured. PSE only holds a $35 million insurance policy for the $310 million project.
 If there’s a serious accident, the shell company will declare bankruptcy, leaving Tacomans footing the bill for damages that could be in the billions.
Local Politics:
 Many elected officials have accepted money from PSE. Not coincidentally, many elected officials are either supporting the LNG project or remaining eerily silent.
 PSE has spent millions of dollars in political contributions, greenwashing advertisement and pro LNG push-polls.
LNG Uses:
 This LNG site will be a refinery/storage/peak shaving/ship re-fueling station, and also a major distribution center via truck, barge, and rail.
PSE’s Experience with Natural Gas:
 An explosion on March 9, 2016, in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle. Puget Sound Energy was ruled responsible and fined $1.5 million.
 An explosion on March 31, 2014 at the Williams Northwest Pipeline LNG peak shaving facility in Plymouth, WA. This accident injured five workers and caused the evacuation of 400 people.
 PSE already operates the largest underground gas vault in the NW. There is no public need for the LNG refinery.
Environmental Devastation:
 Two-thirds of all natural gas in the U.S. is produced via fracking, which contaminates drinking water, triggers earthquakes, generates air pollution and contributes to climate change through greenhouse gas emissions.
 PSE’s LNG facility would lock Tacoma in to a 50-year lease of burning fracked gas and accelerating climate change.
 LNG was once billed as a “bridge fuel,” but natural gas is now recognized as a powerful contributor to climate change. For this reason, organizations from the Sierra Club to the NAACP have publicly opposed natural gas as an energy source for the future.
 We need to retire fossil fuel projects and replace them with sustainable renewable energy projects.

Strategy tip for neoliberals whom I despise but have petitions for good causes:

Don't have them. Y'all fucked up in 2016 by using your PACs and campaigns masque...rading as petition drives to collect our emails to add to your lists that are impossible and illegally hard to unsubscribe from, then funneled our info into an endless neoliberal/DNC downward spiral of exponentially frequent, rage-inducing email storms deluging our inboxes until we came to hate the sight of your stupid, stupid names.

It's also highly possible that certain petitions targeted toward Bernie voters were used to scrub them off the primary rolls in many states.

So you guys can't have my email. I'd rather live in information darkness with $800/month internet while my business closes due to the end of net neutrality than be on your email list.

Thanks, bye, and I'm also not voting for you for President in 2020.
