I came to watch The Breadwinner. The people there were very friendly and helpful. The quality of their projection and sound are excellent. This is the type of theatre that cinema fans can enjoy attending.

I went here to go see Loving Vincent, though it’s probably the movie I saw that played a big role in this, I still appreciate this theatre as a comfy, quaint place to bring your friends and watch a go...od film. They have excellent taste in film screenings. See More

‪my husband and i were Looking forward to watching the french film at the Clay Cinema 'Things to come' when after seating ourselves a blonde woman in her 50's exclaimed under her breath "Do you really... have to sit there!" I ignored and Niall didn't hear. They attempted to move back but someone beat them to it so they come back behind us. As they were sitting woman says directly to me "Do you really have to sit there?" I look back and respond "why don"t you go home and watch movies there?" Her response"yes why don"t you go home! Go home where you came from!" My first Trumpism remark! Shocking! I called the manager and while the manager was talking with me i looked at her and she's now giving me the finger!!!! They looked like a decent white couple but I now realize they were trash! Watching a French film in Pacific Heights ! Welcome to The New America! Needless to say i could not stay not with monster racists sitting behind us! Manager and whole staff very apologetic and shocked. Gave us 4 VIP tix to go back. Not if people like those are allowed to stay after their shameful act! God help us all ‬ See More

Great place. Staff was super friendly and we parked across the street for FREE! (how often does that happen in S.F.?). We liked the cast so much we bought shirts to help them out.

Operating since 1910, it truly is a San Francisco landmark. In 1972 it host of the first midnight madness films in SF. Changes in management over the years served it well in continued gentle upgrades.... The staff reflects an interest and dedication to the art, culture and business and FUN of film and film-making.
Worth many visits - come out to the midnight madness shows!

Small neighborhood theatre offers the latest Landmark releases but tends to show the more quirkier of the bunch. Since the theatre is a single screen venue, the current release may not be everyone's c...up of tea. Once an appetizing film is showing, I enjoy the cozy set up and the yummy snacks too. See More

Clay Theater is a great avenue to enhance our world perspective. I have seem so many great films in this theater, and I so delighted that the cinema preserves its traditional architecture, design and ...format.
