Despite their name, Australian Shepherds were developed on ranches in the west of the USA in the 19th century. For many years, Aussies have been valued by stockmen for their incredible versatility and trainability. And even though they are still working as stock dogs, their big brains and warm heart...

An amazingly controlled behaviour. Beautiful blood sample with an Hyena. America's Teaching Zoo in Moorpark CA, the Exotic Animal Training and Management program.

Puppies and young adolescent dogs certainly benefit from the opportunity to run, socialize, and play with other playful dogs. But taking an inexperienced adolescent to a dog park is something else I would never recommend. There are too many playground bullies at dog parks dogs who get a little charg...

The 'alpha dog' myth is leading countless owners to mistreat their dogs.

It’s true.

Good read this. Of particular interest is the inserted ABC news clip (7mins) called "Revealed: The relationship between your vet and pharmaceutical companies". ...

It contains a lot of what we know already about petfood heavily cash investing in our university veterinary departments. Vitally though, I found what I've been looking for for some time - a quote from a university veterinary department that admits a Hills veterinary employee directly teaches nutrition to their third-year students (Sydney University, Australia).

This is of high value to me as I have not been able to get a university to admit to this yet.

Unbelievably, while the vet department is on record to be perfectly fine with this, a lecturer in ethics from the very same University that admitted this was going on, Anne Fawcett, admits the potential for conflict of interest was very real. In the piece, she states "I think we need to be really aware of the problem. Companies wouldn't be giving freebies if they weren't getting something out of it".

"We're on this slippery slope of influence that pervades the things we do...it saddens me that despite terrific developments, we have gone down this pathway of commercialism".
