Just got back from a couple of nights stay with my daughter and our dogs, it was very nice. On arrival we were greeted with friendly helpful staff, the room was small but clean comfy bed and a good ba...throom. The dogs were made very welcome. Our room was perfect for them as it backed onto the garden area
We ate in the pub both evenings and the food was very nice although I thought the wine list was a little lacking, we ate in the conservatory which was ok
Breakfast was lovely very good quality ingredients and cooked beautifully
Service at times is a little hap hazard but always friendly
There are no frills with The Ship but we really enjoyed ourselves a short walk across the road and we were on the beach. Would recommend especially to our friends with dogs

This was our third stay at the ship and we stayed in Guildhall previously we have stayed in the lodges never in the pub itself. The room was clean and warm but for a luxury room I feel the chairs cou...ld have been better one rickety old chair very uncomfortable and a Windsor back chair. I appreciate that the furnishings are in keeping with the building but please a few cushions would help the comfort so you could sit at the window and look at the view. We ate in the pub and were very pleased with the meal as usual but even there how long have those seat pads been on the settles they really need an upgrade. Breakfast was as usual very good and cooked to perfection. See More

Been going to the Ship for many years but have never written a review. Stopped for lunch yesterday and as always it was great. Just wanted to say a special thanks for the veggie food you have on your ...menu, it's not the 'usual' and certainly not an 'afterthought' like you seem to get with many places. The meat eaters in the group are always impressed too.
A lovely, welcoming, dog friendly pub with good food and ale and a fine pit stop when exploring the beautiful Suffolk coastline

This is the second year running we have been to the ship for my husbands birthday. Last year we were in the beautiful room with big Christmas tree and fire . This year we were in the conservatory.
Sta...ff excellent, food good , the environment is relaxed and the staff very helpful, especially as this year we had huge balloons and games to
Play .
Well Done The Ship And staff see you soon .

We love The Ship. It's dog friendly (the staff ask whether your dog wants a sausage at breakfast). The rooms are very clean. The food is excellent and lots of it and all the staff are lovely and can't... do enough for you. It's location is fantastic and handy to explore the rest of Suffolk. I wholeheartedly recommend it. This was our zillionth (probably!) visit to the Ship - and we continue to love it! Our friends have also started visiting and are equally impressed. For us with 2 dogs it's great to find somewhere we ...can feel at home and properly relax. Good food, lovely open fire, super friendly people work here and generally a good vibe for any occasion! I have been coming here for 30+ years. Originally with my family as a child and more recently with my partner and friends. It's a brilliant village pub and one of my favourite places to eat/stay in Su...ffolk. A relaxed village pub, with simple clean rooms, friendly service and bags of charm. Food is always very good. The Ship has a fairly standard pub menu (fish pie, ham/egg/chips, burger, fish & chips, chicken, curry) but there are always seafood specials for people who prefer lighter meals. I always have the seafood specials and the fish is excellent! Lemon sole, mackerel, sea bream - its always very good. In summer months the conservatory out the back and the garden are lovely places to eat. In winter I recommend eating at the bar by the roaring open fire. See More

First time at The Ship and after having read many Facebook comments, I have to say, it didn't disappoint! I was with friends and we had our dogs with us - a more dog friendly pub would be hard to find...! Lovely garden to sit in, lovely food and excellent service from the young team! We shall be back! It’s our wonderful go to pub of 28 years, but the first time we stayed over night there. Quirky and quaint, lovely friendly people and the most amazing breakfast - incredible value for money!

Never had a bad meal here! Breakfast, lunch or dinner always great. But best by far is 'Colin's sticky toffee pudding'... we might have been know to drive 2.5hrs there, just for the STP 😆

Beautiful part of the country..the ship was welcoming and relaxing...nothing was too much trouble...our room opened straight out into the garden which was lovely for our deerhound seamus... seamus wa...s allowed to roam where he wanted so he was totally relaxed in the environment.
There were lots of lovely walks around the local area, plus the beach and a quaint museum for local history a few doors down from the ship
I had a lovely vegetarian meal in the evening which was refreshing in its originality, not the usual 'vegetarian lasagne'
Would definitely go back

We just spent the night at The Ship with our two small dogs. Greeting from the staff was friendly and they showed us all around the pub and hotel. Our room was lovely and warm and exceptionally clean,... fresh and modern. Comfy bed and lovely hot shower😀 food was unbelievable, fresh and tasty and the portion size..........almost too much. Nothing was too much trouble.
Will DEFINATELY be returning soon!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Returning to Dunwich and The Ship is always really nice. We go here at least once a year. This time we had lunch in the beer garden after a horrific thunderstorm. Food and service was excellent as alw...ays. Specially enjoyed the scotch egg. See More
