Hey Spooklet fans, October is creeping up. Sorry we've been remiss in updates... we are currently considering page counts and such for this year's edition and will be in touch shortly with all who submitted.

The Spooklet shared their event.

Submission deadline is Aug 31, so we backdated event start date to today!

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: The Spooklet (2016).

Submit your story, poem or artwork to The Spooklet. The Spooklet is a Halloween-themed zine/mini literary arts magazine. The Spooklet 2016 is the 6th edition of The Spooklet.

Submission guidelines:...
Submit your poems, stories or illustrations to the.spooklet@gmail.com by Wednesday, August 31st at 11:59 p.m., EST. (The earlier the better, if you want in!)

Stories: must be 700 words max (~500-words works priority/preferred, space is limited).

Illustrations: must reproduce well at maximum size of 4.25 inch x 5.5 inches (JPEG preferred. Please do not send files larger than necessary) Please send B/W unless interested in submitting for the cover. If not chosen for the cover, image may be used on inside B/W page, in that case it will be converted to B/W.

Content/genre: The Spooklet is quirkily scary, mildly frightening, eerie, supernatural, but not quite nightmare-inducing. The Spooklet does not lend itself to profanity, X-rated content or anything we wouldn't really want our mothers to see. (It's a "let," remember...)

Inclusion in The Spooklet is at the discretion of the editors. Consideration will be made based on space constraints, content/compatibility and other factors. By submitting to The Spooklet, you agree your work may be edited as needed. After the submission process, you will be notified if The Spooklet 2016 will include your work. In the event that not enough content is submitted to validate production of The Spooklet, you agree The Spooklet may contact you to inquire about using your work in a future edition. The plan is to produce The Spooklet 2016 before Halloween 2016.

For participating in The Spooklet you will receive:
One copy of The Spooklet (delivered in person or pickup locations TBA, post by special arrangement). The opportunity to purchase additional copies of The Spooklet. For production purposes, please indicate with your submission any likely inclination to purchase (X# of) additional copies.

The Spooklet is produced in Richmond, Virginia, as a production of the sub-sub-sub group.

Thank you for considering submitting to THE SPOOKLET.

Sure, it’s just a doll. It’s just going to sit there, staring blankly, while Destination America’s webcam records its utter lack of movement. But since this is a supposedly haunted doll, maybe some crazy shit might happen?
