Next Thursday night, May 15th! The Tea Club will be returning to Kung Fu Necktie to play a show with Trioscapes, a mind blowing band that features 3 incredible musicians, including Dan Briggs of Between The Buried And Me! Tickets are $8! DON'T MISS IT!
After our April Fools "update" from the other day, we wanted to give everyone an actual update about what's been going on with The Tea Club.
We will be releasing our 4th album in 2014!
We have been working on new material for the past few months. We've written a lot of stuff, and we're now deciding what songs will make it on the album. We will be spending the rest of April arranging those songs.... We will spend May rehearsing the songs, and we will head back to the studio in June to begin recording. We have every intention of releasing our 4th album before the end of 2014!
So for the next few months, we will not be playing very many shows. But the shows that we do play will involve us trying out our new material, so they will be extra special!
And finally, to set the record straight, the McGowan brothers have not quit The Tea Club to become walnut ranchers. IT JUST AIN'T TRUE! Although it is possible that a Joe Rizzolo vocal performance may find its way onto the next album.
MCGOWAN BROTHERS QUIT THE TEA CLUB; JOE RIZZOLO STEPS UP AS LEAD SINGER, RENAMES THE BAND "DRUMS. THE BAND"
The prog rock world was stunned today when founding members Patrick and Dan McGowan announced that they would be leaving The Tea Club to pursue careers as walnut ranchers. "We just realized that we hate all forms of music," said Dan McGowan when asked for comment. "We firmly believe that wa...lnut ranching is our true calling," added his brother Patrick.
Equally surprising was the announcement that Tea Club drummer Joe Rizzolo would be stepping from behind the drum kit to become the band's lead singer. His first decision as the band's frontman? To change the band's name to "Drums. The Band".
"99% of my vocals will be completely improvised. I will be singing in a language of my own invention, which I call Frog Latin." said Joe Rizzolo.
He went on to say that he has enlisted two actual frogs to play guitars in the band. "Not many people know this, but frogs can really shred when they're asked to. When they're asked politely. Frogs are weird. They can do a lot of weird things," Joe added.
New material has already surfaced. A video of the band playing a new 29 minute song, titled "Ssssssssssilver Sssssssssundays", was posted this morning on their YouTube account. NME described the track as "a sprawling epic that hearkens back to early Toad the Wet Sprocket... A clear St. Anger-era Metallica influence can also be heard."
"The two frog guitar players are actually really good musicians," said Pitchfork in their review of the song.
Bassist Jamie Wolfe offered some cryptic insight into the new line-up of the band. "The events that led to Patrick and Dan leaving the group were set in motion months ago."
"Everything is going according to plan," said keyboardist Renee Pestritto.Meer weergeven
