Stopped by for lunch today. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing (quiche and soup) , but portions seemed tiny. The bread it came with was a tiny sliver the size of a French fry. Had to go home and eat... some more because I was still hungry. See More

Sunday Brunch is a destination! Upstate SC best kept secret! Shrimp grits, desserts is on point, great pasta, soups, sides , bread pudding. Great quality souther buffet with a Mediterranean twist. It... was a short wait because of the lines but it was worth the wait. See More

The Place
Pendleton, South Carolina has one of the largest National Historic Districts in the country. Pendleton's "Main" Street: The Village Green is anchored by the Farmers' Society Hall and shops l...ike The Village Bakery & Cafe. The bakery is quaint and nostalgic with excellent offerings and the cafe has adequate seating and many different sized tables.

The Menu/Food
We stopped by for lunch on a Friday. There were at least 15 sandwiches to choose from on the menu. I chose the Reuben - Corned beef and sauerkraut on hearty rye. The Reuben and fries were both very good and the portion size just right. Overall our eating experience was excellent. I plan on taking in Sunday brunch as it was highly recommended by all.

The Service/Value
The prices were fair for the value presented. Our server was brand new but did a good job. The only reason we new she was new... she told us. The manager and staff were all friendly. Nice small town place to eat. Highly recommend you try it!!

Awesome food, awesome people... I usually go for Sunday brunch, which is always great, but a couple of time I went during the week and had their Roasted Veggie Melt (minus the cheese), and oh my good...ness, I don't know how they make vegetables taste that good...

The owners are also very friendly, wonderful people.

We frequent the cafe; however, ordered pimento cheese BLT sandwiches for takeout this afternoon and arrived home to find bread and cheese :( Sadly it was a pricey sandwich but missing most of the sand...wich. Called to ask if we misread the menu description and the staff didn't seem sure of the menu. See More

The table service is great. They're friendly and happy to serve you.
My favorite thing about it is how much it reminds me of Gilmore Girls.
Parking is a little funny in Pendleton, but it's not their fault.

My husband & l visited this cafe today & the whole experience was absolutely wonderful Zina waited on us & she was just the most happiest precious person I've ever met. You could tell she loved here. The turkey sandwiches & fries were absolutely wonderful. Everything is homemade here, down to the bread that made up our sandwiches. The owners daughter was also wonderfully sweet. I recommend this quaint little cafe. The bakery side was also wonderful, can't wait to try the bakery items l bought. See More

I just placed an order for Christmas goodies for friends, neighbors, and family. I have done this for years. One year I thought the neighbors would like a change and they COMPLAINED! They actually ...asked me to return to the Village Bakery! See More

The best grilled cheese sandwich available! The lattes were great and the burger was tasty. Can't beat freshly baked bread and hamburger buns!

It shouldn't take 35 minutes for a 'while you wait to go order' of one breakfast bagel. It shouldn't take that long if we were eating in. They were not even busy.

My husband and I love the bakery pastries and Sunday brunch. We always encounter the sweetest workers at the bakery. However the past few weekends when we have ordered breakfast or lunch on the other ...side of the restaurant we have had terrible service. One server in particular is extremely rude and doesn't make the small town bakery a pleasant place to be. We placed and picked up a to go order today. That particular server was rude and even left out part of our order but since breakfast is not being served anymore, they could no redo my order. We will only be returning for their delicious pastries and friendly workers on the pastry portion of the restaurant. See More

We went yesterday morning for brunch, and we opted to wait the 45 mins. for a table. In that 45mins. I met a new friend Karen Crow Steinbring. At the end of the wait was the very best shrimp and grits... EVER. Everything was awesome. The food was over the top and the service was as well. I will definitely be going back. These folks are doing everything right! See More

Our server was outstanding. I asked for a pack of crackers to help keep my toddler son occupied while we ordered. She came back with two small cookies from the bakery. She then brought my 6 year old d...aughter a cookie so she would not feel left out. She even brought my son a toy to play with! She then made a point to tell us that she was a mom as well. The food was great, but the compassion of the employee made our lunch even better. Oh, and she did not charge us for the cookies (we made sure to pay for them). If she's not a Christian I'd be shocked, she showed love to total strangers. See More
