It is such a beautiful place, I have been here two years in a row now and plan to come many more years in the future. The fishing is great the people are wonderful the water is beautiful and the rooms... are spacious and very well accommodated. Couldn't find a more honest, trustworthy set of Lodge cabins to rent from a nicer couple, than Jamie and Craig. So glad I get to experience this every year thank you so much guys for putting up with our crazy family every year, we make it memorable just as you do for us. See More

Our favorite family summer spot! Our kids look forward to our visit every year, the lily pad, the fishing contest, swimming out and playing on the floating dock. Craig and Jamie are the best hosts!

We spend last weekend at Thunder Lake Lodge. This was our first stay, but we will be back for sure. After loosing a tire on the trailer as we pulled into the resort Craig was more than willing to help... us with the equipment needed to get it replaced and back on the road. That is what I call customer service.

We took our 2 yr old son out on one of the pontoons and he had such a blast catching fish and being on the water, we could have never done that with out your rentals.

Thank you to Craig, Jamie and their staff for making our short stay with you relaxing and welcoming and worry free! You have gained new customers, and we can't wait to come back.

I want to let you know how much our group enjoyed our stay at Thunder Lake Lodge, in Cabin Deluxe. The accommodations were extremely comfortable, and we had a wonderful time. Craig and Jamie have a wo...nderful oasis in the north woods, and they are taking great care of the facilities and the guests. On top of all of that, we had three days of terrific fishing.

I would have no problems recommending Thunder Lake Lodge to anybody looking for a relaxing experience in the north country. Nice people, terrific accomodations, and lots of big fish.

Just got back from a great family vacation! Thanks Craig for having everything we needed! From the great yard games and well manicured beach, tons of water toys(I loved the paddle boards!) even a huge... selection of board games for the kids on a rainy afternoon. Everyone had a blast! You guys bought of everything here! We can't wait to come back every year! See More

Definitely a Five Star resort! We are booked for our third year in a row! Tons of outdoor equipment and gear for the kids and the fishing is the best you will find in Minnesota. The accommodations ...are wonderful, clean, well maintained, and very comfortable. Craig and Jamie do a great job of making your vacation a pleasant experience. I Highly recommend Thunder Lake Lodge! TLL is a fantastic, family friendly resort run by two very kind and accommodating people! We loved the cozy "make yourself at home" feeling.

The lake is clear and beautiful and great for boating, fi...shing, and swimming.

Our only regret after 3 nights is not staying LONGER!!! We will definitely be back!

My beautiful sweetheart and I just stayed at TLL. The hospitality was second to none. The cabin was cozy and very rustic. It is a very restful place. The nights are very quiet. Excellent children's pl...ay area, that is easily monitored from the cabin. The pontoon we rented was a nice boat. We did not fish so I have no opinion in that regard. We hope to be back, SOON! We just returned home from our seventh year at TLL and wish we could stay all summer! Long days at the beach, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming out to the raft, reading, being laz...y. Evening of bonfires, Rummy 500, and that 100% quality family time we all say we need to make more time for. Craig, Jamie and co. take care of it all so you truly get a vacation in your home away from home. After our first year, I vowed this would be my family's summer tradition and it is! We are already looking forward to next year! See More

The ice shifted yesterday and came up onto the shoreline in front of the lodge. Big chunks of ice are disappearing by the hour it seems. The next couple days will be interesting. If we had any decent weather over the last week, the ice would be gone by now. We also heard our first loon call of 2014 this morning! We'll keep you posted...

Took this video from our bedroom window outside the lodge yesterday. This is as close as I have ever seen them to the house during the day. It was at about 4 pm in the afternoon. I'd say there were probably 20 deer total along the property line to the south of us (next to A-Frame 1). At this time of the year, the deer are very hungry and trying to survive the remainder of the winter.

Tomorrow at 10:30 am CST, the guys from Lake Commandos (Host Steve Pennaz and Bassmaster Magazine Editor James Hall) that recorded a fishing show segment at Thunder Lake Lodge back in August, will be airing the show for the first time on TV on the Sportsman Channel.

Feel free to set your DVRs to record and watch it. It's a very educational piece about how to attack Thunder for late summer pattern smallmouth and largemouth bass.

We couldn't be happier or more excited to announce that we signed closing documents on Friday for the resort and the construction of the new 12 bedroom reunion cabin, which will replace the existing Cottage 4 and 5. We will break ground on September 11th and will have it ready by late May/early June.

We have attached elevations and floorplans for the "4-plex", which is broken up into individual 4 bedroom units (2), and 2 bedroom units (2). There are 2 baths in each 4 bedr...oom and 1 bath in each 2 bedroom. The entire building can be rented as one 12 bedroom unit by opening up the doorway walk-throughs. There will be central air throughout the building.

While we have already rented this unit out for certain weeks next summer, we are just now starting to market and advertise the new cabin for next year. So if you have an interest in it for next year, call or email at your convenience. It is our hope to fill up the calendar soon.

As many of you know, we have been trying to get this project done for a few years now so we can't wait to have this project finished for you!

Steve Pennaz (host of Lake Commandos) and James Hall (editor at BassMaster Magazine) visited the other day to chase some largemouth and smallmouth bass on Thunder. The results were impressive.

You 'll be able to find out who won the competition between the two in early 2018 on the Sportsman Channel!

Amazing day on Big Thunder Lake with James Hall while taping an episode of Lake Commandos. Largies and smallies on new Berkley PowerBait MaxScent shapes including The General. Staying at Thunder Lake Lodge and highly recommend it!

Wowsers, James!

Filming an episode of Lake Commandos today with Steve Pennaz and caught three bass during the eclipse. Yep, checked that item off the bucket list. Crazy awesome day.
