Went there this evening for the Burlesque show. We arrived rather early so we could eat and get a good table. The food wasn’t the greatest, but was fine for “bar food.” I wasn’t expecting a high end e...ating experience. We got an excellent table no more than 10 feet from the stage. When the show began, all of those who showed up right at 10:00 pm (or later and didn’t have a seat) stood right at the stage, blocking the view of those seated at tables. Granted this a rather small venue, I would expect the “standing room only” crowed to be towards the back, or lined up along the edges of the wall - not right at the stage. I would also expect the venue to enforce this, which it wasn’t. Instead the lead singer made an announcement halfway through the show, acknowledging there were complaints about people not being able to see. He said to stand up and join the crowd. In my opinion this was a bit of a slap in the face since we had already paid for 3 tickets to the show, 3 meals, 3 glasses of wine, about 3 or 4 beers and 2 cokes.
As for the Burlesque show itself, it was enjoyable and the band was decent.
Overall it was an enjoyable night and I’d be more than happy to visit again should there be a band and/or show of interest playing there in the future. I would hope the “standing room only” crowd issue would be better managed, however.

Tip Top is on the tippy top of my list of favorite bars/venues in Grand Rapids. The staff is comprised of genuinely friendly faces of real people who you can tell enjoy their jobs and really want to ...see you have a cool time in their neat place. I've been in town for a couple of months and keep returning because I like to support small businesses with heart and soul, which this undeniably charming establishment legit radiates. Also, the BEST show I've attended possibly ever happened here over the weekend and the energy was out of this world amazing, I brought several friends and they were all in agreement! Keep it up, neat place. See More

Don’t let the exterior fool you! Super fun place with a great local vibe. A small intimate venue to get up close and personal with the artists. Saw Ray Scott last night and the entire evening was a bl...ast! Hoping he comes back because we definitely will return. See More

Very small bar if you go for a concert be there at hour early. They have a lot of great music, we went to see Maria Muldaur last night. VERY SMALL selection of food to order but my burger was great, ...the meat is sourced locally. Super nice crowd, good servers, just a well kept secret! See More

Somehow yesterday, 10/22, was my first time here. I came for Dave's memorial. Thank you guys for doing that! I like the bar, bartenders were great. Keep doing your thing, guys.

Went to see Ray Wylie Hubbard here. The exterior may be a bit non-descript and the neighborhood drab (no offense, I'm from Lansing and know all about drab), but inside is a great venue for live music.... Attentive wait staff, plenty of libations to choose from. Had a fun time. See More

We got here early to get good seats to see the Shimmy-Shake Burlesque only to have our view blocked for the entire show by a bunch of inconsiderate jerks standing right in front of the stage. Standing... room is in BACK of the venue, not in FRONT OF THE STAGE! Enforce it! See More

Looking for the Ritz Carlton? You're in the wrong place! Looking for something a little more old fashion with a great stop for music from all areas, Overall friendly people, and a home Town feel from ...the owner? This is your place. Ted works hard to make this the right spot for the right people and caters slightly more to the rockabilly and old rock and roll patrons but seems to welcome people from the entire community! Westside as a motherfucker. Best bar in Michigan. Tip Top has a thriving music scene built around it ranging from blues to outlaw country to hardcore punk. Featuring some pretty goddamn kick ass barte...nders too.

Downside... The dude that lives across the street is a bootlicking heaping pile of pig shit.
