Bob Ratterman wrote a review of "Losing to Boehner, Winning America" that appeared in the Oxford Press last Sunday and online just the other day. View it here at: http://www.journal-news.com/…/oxfor…/AFl4d5WJ3czWzTFVVvJgHM/

Join me this Saturday October 15 at Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati for the Books by the Banks Festival from 10am-4pm to celebrate the book release, talk about writing and campaigns, and anything else on your mind. Should be a fun day surrounded by boo...ks and authors. If you don't have a copy yet, you can get one at the book sale at the event.

If you can't make it on Saturday, I am pushing this Saturday as my last "Go to #1 Day" on Amazon for this project. Go to the book's site on Amazon on October 15, make the purchase, read the book, and help me push the book's rankings into the top 100 in the campaign books category. We got so close to the top 100 last month, but it's time to make a run. Thanks for supporting this project and others! Best, Tom

Democratic Headquarters, Sidney, Ohio ~ 107 Court Street, 6-8pm, Friday September 23

I am so pleased to be invited to appear with Janet Garrett, running against incumbent Republican Jim Jordan in Ohio's Congressional District 4. From the time that Janet heard about my book "Losing to Boehner, Winning America" coming out, she has been interested in meeting and discussing it and in ...the possibility of drawing Democrats out for a night of political discussion and contribution making! This is the season to make a difference: Supporting candidates lifts everyone (especially the candidate's campaign!), it lifts our level of discourse and knowledge, and it raises our political activism. Please join us for a short book talk by me and for Janet's keynote, especially!

I hope especially that friends in my hometown of St. Marys and the vicinity will make the trip to support Janet! REMEMBER: Each contribution at the door of $50 or more gets a free signed book! This helps support Janet's crucial campaign in District 4.

Please join us at Democratic Headquarters, 107 Court Street, Sidney, Ohio, 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, September 23.

In the next months I'll be appearing at events, mostly fundraisers for current candidates. I'll keep you posted on how you can support candidates at events. They need your help and I hope to see you out and about before the election. Thanks for taking a look at my book and for showing up at an event in the next months with questions/insights about it to discuss. My goal is to support candidates, by letting them know their work matters, and by helping them marshall human and capital resources to the surface so they can do their work in the field! Let's move!

In late 2013, Tom Poetter entered the race for the seat that John Boehner had held for 12 terms in Ohio’s 8th District. This memoir depicts the campaign of 2014 from the inside, from Poetter’s perspective, of all that was won and lost in the race. Follow the candidate as he builds a...

Last week "Losing to Boehner, Winning America" broke into the top 200 books on Amazon.com in the "Elections" category. Wow! Thanks so much for showing your interest by taking a look at my book.

Over the past two weeks the book has been out, friends have been asking me, "How can I get involved in politics if I don't run for office like you did?" I say this, from experience, as a former candidate, that the most meaningful things you can do are:

1) donate your time, by making ph...one calls or knocking on doors for a candidate or an issue. It makes a huge difference to a candidate when you volunteer. It raises the effectiveness of the work and it raises the candidate's and the staff members' spirits...

2) donate money, by making even a small contribution of $10 or $25 to a candidate or to an issue. You are making a huge difference when you donate money. Candidates pay for staff members, for office space, for media time, etc. Most candidates rely on friends and supporters for support. Be a supporter!

Get involved if you can, this election cycle!

I had the great privilege of meeting Connie Pillich, Former Ohio State Representative and 2014 statewide candidate for Treasurer, on the campaign trail in 2014. What a great candidate and public servant. Now a friend and featured prominently in the book ~ she read "Losing to Boehner, Winning America" this past weekend and said:

"Tom, You really went through the range of emotions that plague every campaign. The excitement at making the decision, the 'buyer's remorse' at maki...ng the decision. The highs and lows throughout the campaign. The utter disappointment and feeling of betrayal when close friends did not donate... I really took to heart your theme that we have to support these tough races or else no one will ever run. Even if they have little chance of winning, we should do what we can to make sure that they can be a viable campaign."

Get a copy of the book online and make a commitment to reading something substantive, humorous, and real about the political process this campaign season and share it with friends.

Best Regards, Tom Poetter

Friends, Thanks for supporting this page and my political work in 2014. I am very fortunate to announce the release of my new book "Losing to Boehner, Winning America" by Van Griner Publishers. This book highlights my experiences on the campaign trail and what I learned about the political system during that period, and, of course, about myself, and us.

A good friend and advance reader of "Losing to Boehner" said, "Tom, this is a call to action. It makes me want to work har...der for candidates than I ever have. I had no idea what it takes to run a campaign, and what's at stake for the candidate and for all of us, until I read your book."

It's easy to get a copy by clicking on any of the links below. I'm hoping that many of you will read the book and then sponsor or gather a book group of at least 10 citizens to read and discuss. I will appear, if you like, to discuss and answer questions. Many thanks for your interest and support. The publisher, Van-Griner, offers an excellent deal on shipping multiple copies. Still a couple of hours left in our "Go To #1" event today. We are at #74 in Philosophy/Religious Category on Amazon jumping over 25 spots in the last hour or so. And we have jumped over 1.7 million other books in sales ranking just today! I don't know what it would take to get to #1 tonight, but I really appreciate the support. What I hope is that the book brings joy and insight to all those who read it in the coming months. Let me know what you think of it and if it had an impact on you. All best, Tom

50 Christmases by T.S. Poetter
just tweeted this: Thomas S. Poetter @TSPoetter Tnx for support. Amazon shows that you helped 50 christmases move up 1.6 million places in sales. #101 in Religious/Philosophy. #1 possible

Thanks for helping me with this project. I even bought one at retail today to help the cause (along with another book to get free shipping)! According to what experts say about Amazon's sales ranking system, now that we have gotten up to #101, Amazon will update every hour. It took all day to move from 1.7 millionth to 55,000th in books! And to #101 in Religious/Philosophy. That ranking was at more than 3,000th earlier today. Wow! Thanks so much for your support. TP

Thanks to everyone for your efforts online today to drive 50 Christmases to #1 at Amazon. Thanks to Bob Ratterman for his kind review that he shared in response. There is still lots of time left today. Watch that sales rank number fall! www.50christmases.com

"Go to #1 Day" for my memoir 50 Christmases is Tuesday November 10. Buy copies at Amazon that day to drive the book to #1 in the Philosophy/Religious Category. One day spikes in sales can propel a book to #1 on Amazon. Last year we made it as high as #15!!! Thanks for supporting my work and for sharing copies with friends this holiday season. Go to www.50christmases.com to order, or straight to Amazon on Tuesday! And thanks for sharing this note widely on social media today and tomorrow!
Many thanks, Tom

Friends, Thanks to everyone who has contacted me over the weekend about running in the special election, and the general election, for the open seat in District 8. It has been delightful and interesting reconnecting with friends and discussing the situation. But at this time I'm not running. Balancing work and family and everything else is impossible (maybe it always is!) when running for congress. It's a monumental commitment and undertaking that I put heart and soul into for 13 months. I wish all of the Democrats and all of the candidates who emerge for the next round the best regards. And to the citizens of District 8, thanks for your support and care. Tom
