Tulia City Hall will close at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, November 22. City offices will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day and on Friday. City Hall will reopen on Monday, November 27. Happy Thanksgiving to Tulia citizens!
Word was received yesterday of the death of John Gayle on Monday, July 10th. Mr. Gayle served as Assistant City Manager in Tulia under then city manager Jerry McGuire. John became Tulia city manager after Jerry McGuire became Assistant City Manager in Amarillo. John served 4 years as city manager in Tulia. He then went on to become city manager of Snyder for 26 years and then completed his public service as city manager of Granite Shoals for four years. John was involved in many civic and professional activities. He is survived by a daughter, Paige of Seattle, Washington; a son, Chris and wife, Annette of Seattle, Washington, one grandson, and a brother. The City of Tulia extends condolences to the Gayle family and remembers John's faithful service to the City of Tulia.
Music, Fireworks, and Dip Fest on Broadway highlight the Friday night edition of Swisher County 127th Birthday Celebration and Homecoming.
Music begins at 7 pm at the park on the west side of South Austin across from the baseball fields. Fireworks to begin around 10pm tonight. Dragging Dip Street begins at 8 pm.
More to come on Saturday with Breakfast at the Senior Citizen Center from 6 am to 8:30 am. The Parade begins at 10 am .
Then the Picnic beginning at 11;30 am with... all over 70 years of age receiving a complimentary lunch. Below 70 years, it will be $8.00 a person for the barbeque lunch.
Rodeo and youth activities begin at 6:30 pm at the Cobb Wheeler Mote Arena. Music and dancing begin at 9 pm at Swisher County Show Barns.

City of Tulia Police Department would like to alert all citizens, about a phone scam. This morning a Tulia citizen received a telephone call, the caller ID showed it was a local number. The caller claimed they were from a medical team with a local church and was asking for donations. This is a scam, please do not give out any personal information. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Police Department 995-3555.
Tulia City Hall will close early today at 4 pm. City Hall is closed on Tuesday, July 4th. City Hall will resume regular hours on Wednesday, July 5th. If you are traveling this holiday, buckle up and drive friendly!
Tulia Volunteer Fire Department will host July 4th in Tulia at the RV Park on the west side of Austin Street across from the baseball fields. The festivities begin at 5 pm with food, games, and later that night, the fireworks. Music by LIndsey Lane and Emily George. The City of Tulia wishes all Tulia citizens a safe and Red-White-Blue 4th of July. The TVFD will take donations for the restoration of the city's 1927 Fire Truck during the event.

This is Our Town week with Tulia in the spotlight on KVII News. In that spirit , an anonyomous donor is sponsoring a contest on KVII Trivia. A gift card will be awarded to the entrant who correctly answers all the trivia questions on KVII history. All entries must be turned into city hall by 12 noon on Friday, June 30, 2017. Turn an entry into Crystal or Autumn at city hall and it will be time stamped. The earliest entry with all the correct answers will be awarded a gift ca...rd. The decisons of the judges is final. Just wanted to let everyone know who have been asking the parts for the Mackenzie addition water line should be here Monday. They are being flown in from North Carolina hopefully to be installed Monday or Tuesday. Would like to thank everyone for their patience in waiting for this.
