Congratulations to Pershing Rifles Troop L-1 for winning the Varsity Rifle title at NATCON 2018! Way to represent The University of Toledo and the Rocket Battalion!
Rockets recently completed Platoon Reconnaissance Lab at Camp Miakonda. While there, Cadets learned the basics of setting up an ORP, conducting the leader's recon, then finishing with an area recon observing the enemy from all sides.
We would like to take a minute to recognize our Rockets who competed in this year's Best Ranger Competition at Xavier University over the weekend. The teams faced great challenges, both physical and mental, that only few Cadets dare to overcome during their time in ROTC programs. Rockets, Proud to Be!
The Rocket Battalion recently conducted Promotion Boards for the spring semester. These boards provide an opportunity for both contracted and non contracted Cadets to display their leadership ability, presence, and domain knowledge to Cadre and Upperclassmen. If completed successfully, attendees will be placed into higher leadership roles above their peers to continue refining their path as a future Officer.
Last week, Rockets powered through the cold and rain to practice setting up an ambush against enemy forces at Camp Miakonda. Cadet leadership first predicted the enemy's route of travel, scouted the best attacking position, and then placed their soldiers in line and waited for the signal to attack.
Congratulations to CDT Christian Valentine who was selected to represent the Rocket Battalion at the George C. Marshall Leadership & Awards Seminar last week at FT. Leavenworth, Kansas.
Each year, hundreds of Cadets across the nation meet to take part in seminars and round table discussions about critical defense and geopolitical matters, and the profession of arms, bringing the experience learned back to their home university.
Last week, soon-to-be 2nd Lieutenants from college campuses near and far came to The University of Toledo to get fitted for their Army Service Uniform (ASU). Check out this article from The Independent Collegian showcasing it!...
Check out a few photos from last week's lab at Camp Miakonda. Rockets completed an STX Lane to eliminate enemy weapon caches throughout the camp. These scenarios help improve Cadet leadership skills before attending either Basic or Advanced Camp this summer at Ft. Knox.
