Each Sunday, Valley View has a brunch followed by an assembly. Last Sunday the boys enjoyed learning about Roman legionary history, weapons and armor from historian and artist Andy Volpe: Art and History. The boys were full of questions and of course enjoyed seeing and being able to handle all the historic artifacts, armor and weapons.
Spring Sports
We are excited to announce that spring has finally arrived and that our spring sports have begun. In the spring we offer golf, tennis, running, and hiking. All of the students are required to participate in one of the offerings and are welcome to participate in each of them.
Golf and Tennis are our team sports this season. We have nearly 20 students playing tennis this year and 10 students interested in playing golf. We encourage anyone interested in playing to ...join the team and no one is turned away. We have a variety of abilities on each team and can accommodate each student that is interested in participating. Practices began last week and the golf team already had their first match. Hiking and running will begin this week and are offered to students that would rather not play a team sport. Hiking and running will be offered at least twice a week.
The golf team had our first match of the season last Tuesday. Because the first match happened so early in the season and we have many players that are relatively new to the game, we did a 4 ball tournament style match vs Eagle Hill School. Both coaches played with the students and we all had an enjoyable time.

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we inform you that the Founding Father of Valley View School, Phillip G. Spiva, Ph. D., has died. Dr. Spiva was a leader, innovator, and contributor in the therapeutic school community. He was regarded by countless professionals, students, and families as a dedicated professional.
All of us at Valley View School will miss him dearly but he will always remain in our thoughts and in our hearts. Dr. Spiva lives on in the work that ...we do each and every day and for future generations to come.
Dr. Spiva leaves behind a legacy of success that spans 47 continuous years. The positive impact of Dr. Spiva on the students who have enrolled and graduated from Valley View School can not be overstated. Dr. Spiva and his work at Valley View School is evident today in the enriched and successful lives of hundreds and hundreds of students and families.
Dr. Spiva has entrusted to us, a critically important program model, staff group, and infrastructure which we will rely on and expand as we continue to provide the highest standard of care for future students and families.
On behalf of the late Dr. Spiva, we thank you for placing your confidence and trust in all of us at Valley View School. We will continue to dedicate ourselves to the students, parents and all of you, the professional consultant community. We will remain steadfast to always honor the commitment and spirit of servitude exemplified throughout the lifetime of Dr. Spiva.
Take a moment and remember Dr. Phillip G. Spiva. We ask you to consider the school he built from scratch and a dedication that lasted a lifetime. We ask you to reflect on what he believed in,

We take a really cool Fenway Park trip every summer. It gives the boys a behind the scenes look at the stadium and a nice day in Boston. Go Sox!

Ryan & Aaron spent the day with some of the boys at the New England Patriots Training Camp last week.

Aaron and the "History of Baseball" class enjoyed a Pawtucket Red Sox game on July 29th.
