BIBLES BIBLES Simply Andy (@IAmAndySarfo)…What A Legend!! I First Met Him At Lucas Langdon’s (God Rest His Soul) Studio Basement Back In 2006, I Think. Anyways, He Quickly Became Like An Older Brother And Mentor To Me. He Taught Me To Think Differently And Stretched My Mind. He Was At My House Often In My Bedroom Studio Creating Music With Me. Andy Was Always Hosting Shows, Or Doing Comedy Around The UK. Very Few People Knew That He Would Do Music And Could Actually Sing/Rap, But Many People Knew Him For One Main Thing…”BIBLES BIBLES!!” This Was A Response To The Popular ‘Gun Finger’ In Youth Culture At The Time. “BRAP BRAP BRAP!!” Andy Switched That Up And Got Everyone Doing The Bible Hands. This Caught On Quick!! Everyone Began Doing It. I Remember Suggesting To Andy That He Should Do A Song. Andy Told Me That I Should Make The Beat. I Was Down For That!! I Played Him A Few Beats And He Picked A Specific Beat, Which Had A Dark Kinda Grime Sound To It. I Was thinking It Should Be Something More Brighter, But He Wanted That Specific One So We Went With It. Andy Was A Genius! I Touched Up The Beat And We Hit Up Everyone In The Gospel Scene. @FaithChild @GuvnaB @Gabz_Amadi @Daniel_Serene @Tripleomusic @Iciemusic @Blesstography @yomi.wot And Kasi. We Brought Everyone Together In One Room To Create A Song To Come Against The Knife And Gun Crime In Our Communities. This Was History Being Made In My Bedroom. We Got To Perform The Song All Over The UK. We Eventually Shot The Video On A Green Screen Backdrop. Shout Out To The Video Team And Animators. We Then Sent The Video To CHANNEL U, Known Today As CHANNEL AKA. This Was A Big Move, But We Became The First Grime Gospel Video On Channel U. History Was Made That Day. Barriers Were Broken, Lives Were Changed...

JAM YOURSELF . Where It All Began... 2006 I Recorded, Produced & Directed The Video For My First Ever Single. I Was 16/17 At The Time And I Just Decided That I Wanted To Do More With My Life Having Become A Christian, So I Was Pumped!!! Ready To Take On The World. Growing Up In Hackney In That Time, There Was A Lot Of Stabbings/Shootings Of And By Young People. We Lost Friends, Peers And Feared For Our Own Lives Everyday Going To School Not Knowing Whether We Would Come Home That Night Or Not. At The Time The Only Place I Felt Safe Was At Home, Making Music In My Bedroom Or At Church. All Of These Pressures Birthed “Jam Yourself”, Which Was Quite A Popularly Used Term At The Time In Youth Culture. This Song Was My Expression And Response To What Was Taking Place In The Streets Of London At The Time. Fast Forward 10 Years Later, We Are Till Facing The Same Issues…

ISING
Till This Day I Still Get Messages, Emails, Or Conversations About How Much People STILL Love This Song. It’s Actually Insane!! This Song Took Me Around The World And Back. It’s Been Almost 10 Years Since I First Dropped This Song. Some People Would Tell Me That I Started The Afrobeat Movement In UK. To Me That’s A Stretch LOL. I Appreciate That Some People Believed That, But There Was A Movement Going On Before My Song Dropped. Let Me Fill You In On How This Song Came... About…
December 2007 My Mother Took My Family And I To Nigeria For Christmas/New Year. I Had The Time Of My Life. I Had Already Been 3 or 4 Times Previously, But This Was The First Christmas We Had Experienced. I Started To Soak Up The Sound From The Music Scene In Nigeria And The Culture Surrounding It. I Would Listen To Timaya, Mo Hits, P Square, 2Face Idibia, Da Grin And Many Others. These Were Some Of The OG’s In The Game At The Time. I Was Loving The Sound, It Made Me Proud To Be Nigerian Again. I Just Knew I Had To Create Something In This Style. It Had To Sound Authentic. It Had To Be Fun. It Had To Be A SMASH!!!
I Knew That I Needed Help. So I Hit Up My Bro @UtterOnceMusic To Help Me. I Sent Him A Beat That I Started. He Sent Me Back Little Voice Recordings Of Melodies And Hook Ideas. They Were Dope! “You Are Yes You Are, You Are LaLa La La”, “Everyone In The Worrrrld”. We Got Into My Bedroom Studio And Started Recording ASAP. We Knew This Song Was A Hit! But Something Was Missing…Authentic GUITARS and BASS. I Hit Up My Bro @Chiejine1 Who Came Down And KILLED IT!!!! What A Legend!! All The Guitars And Bass Parts Were Done By Him, But Still Something Was Missing… We Needed A Hype Man. Someone Who Was Known And Respected In The African/Gospel Scene. MUYIWA!! @OfficialMuyiwa Came Down And Did His Thing!! I’m Forever Grateful For This Moment. He’s A Legend!
The Song Was Finally Complete. I Released The Album “In My World” And Began Performing The Song Everywhere. It Got Mad Love!! We Eventually Shot A Fun Music Video For It. The Song Reached Many Parts Of Africa, Europe And America. The World Was Dancing To My Song Maaan, I Was Truly Grateful!!

WINNING THE MOBO
2009 Was A Monumental Year For Me And For The Scene. My First Solo Album Was Out, I Accomplished A Sold Out Concert, I Was Booked Up For A String Of Shows And Tours Across The UK And Other Countries, The Fans Were Loving The Music, But Finding Out That I Was Nominated For A MOBO Award Was Priceless. I Can Still Remember Where I Was When I Found Out. I Had Just Finished A Show At The Excel Centre And My Brother Called My Phone…”Vic, You’re On The List For The ...MOBO”, I Said “Huh?? How??”. Believe Me When I Said I Wasn’t Even Trying To Go For Any Awards. I Just Wanted To Make Great Music And Share With The World, And I Was Doing That. Being Nominated Was A Bonus. I Was Super Grateful For Being Nominated, But I Knew From This Moment That I Had Serious Work To Do If I Was To WIN. Though, The Other Nominees Were My Friends And I Was Super Happy For Them, This Was Competition! I Went Straight Into Game Mode And Began My Campaign. I Facebooked Everyone To Vote For Me. I Sent Out Free Exclusive Songs. I Did Video Campaigns And Got Everyone To Say “Vote For Victizzle”. This Lasted About A Month. Oh BTW…MOBO Never Provided Me With Tickets Or Even A Table…They Even Tried To Make Me Pay For My Own Ticket As A NOMINEE. This Is When I Started To Realise The Politics That Goes On BTS. Luckily, A Connect Helped Me Out And Was Able To Get Me Only ONE Free Ticket. So Myself And My Bro @TundeJBalogun Hopped On A Plane To Scotland (Which We Paid For) For The Award Ceremony. Remember We Only Had ONE Ticket. Somehow We Were Able To Sneak Tunde Into The Show And Onto Our Table. The Rest Was History….
P.S. @kerihilson 😍

G-FORCE MOBO
.
Forward One Year To 2007…G-Force Win The Mobo Award For Best Gospel. I Was So Gassed. They Even Gave Me A Shout Out. I Still Class This As My First MOBO Win. But Let’s Take It Back A Little. 2005 Myself And My Best Friend @MarkAsari Were Invited To A Church Youth Service At KICC By A Girl We Both Knew At School (Toyin). Shout Out To Her And Shout Out To Cardinal Pole Secondary School. She Heard Our Beats And Decided To Hook Us Up With Kola (@UtterOnceMusic), Wh...o Also Heard Our Beats And Were Amazed By Our Sound. We Were Both 15 At The Time. Kola Was Part Of A Rap Group Called ‘G-Force’, Who Were Quite Popular In Their Church. We Hit It Off With Kola Straight Away, He Showed Us Mad Love And Introduced Us To The Other Members Of G-Force, Clement (Logic) And Tobi (Essence). They Would Take Us To Their Studio Sessions And To Their Gigs Around London And The UK. Being Around Them At Such A Young Age Gave Me A Head Start In Life. I Got To Learn About The Studio, Touring, TV Performances, Live Band Performances, Etc. They Quickly Became Like Older Brothers To Me. One Thing I Really Valued About Them Was How Genuine They Were. They Were Regular People That Loved God, But Had A Heart For The Youth. There Was No Facade. No Fakery. No Self-Righteousness Or Pretentiousness. Just Real Bruddas. Anyways, As Time Went On, Myself And Mark Would Work On The Album With Them, Both Producing The Whole Project, We Recorded With Wayne Hermz And Mixed And Mastered The Project Also. ‘DESTROY AND REBUILD’ Was The Title. Released In The Spring/Summer Of 2007 With A Massive 3000 Capacity Sold Out Album Launch Concert. Months Later G-Force Were Nominated For Best Gospel At The MOBO Awards And WON. I Was 17 When This Happened. THIS WAS BIG. A Young Black Boy From Hackney. My Dreams Were Coming True...
