Recent flood event in the horseshoe bend valley on the 3/12/17. Flood events of this magnitude are incredible to see. Well worth a look from the walking track. The track counter number for the month is 33,000.
To all those who had input and behind the scenes helpers we would like to say a huge thank you for your on going loyalty and support over these many years. Baw Baw Shire were always there for us and believed in what we were trying to achieve for the tourism in the area. Heritage Victoria also need to be commended for their thorough investigation into what was right for the community.
Glad to see the crowea exalata has re-established itself once again at the horseshoe bend tunnel. Beautiful out in flower. Track counter is now up to 32,050. A lot of foot traffic.
If your planning a walk this weekend there are a few trees over the walking track down to the tunnel. Quite easy to step over them, they will be reported to DELWP.
On a recent visit to the horseshoe bend tunnel on friday the 21-07-17 as you can see the water was exceptionally low at the exit of the tunnel. Looks like someone has had their hand on the tap again. Very odd after quite a few days of rain previous.
The fight to save the Horseshoe Bend Tunnel is finally over. A big thank you to everyone for their support over the years and especially to the Baw Baw Shire Council. It has certainly been a long but worthwhile fight and it can now be enjoyed by generations to come.
We hope you enjoy visiting this iconic piece of history tucked away in beautiful Walhalla which is now here to stay - from the Friends of the Horseshoe Bend Tunnel.
Took a friend for a tour of the Horseshoe Bend today.
Bumped into some interstate travelers on the walking track who said they caught & released a small trout just upstream from the tunnel entrance.
We heard many different birds & frogs.
Track counter was at 29,823 this afternoon.
Highly recommend a mid-week visit to the area - such peace...
