well folks it was not all that long ago when we thought the battle was over . Turn on your sound and watch the very end of this news footage ,when the presenters say goodnight it will put a lump in your throat .
THIS BATTLE HAS NOT BEEN WON YET .
WE THOUGHT IT WAS DONE AND DUSTED
BUT THE WEST GIPPSLAND CMA KEEP COMING BACK . THE SCIENCE TO PROVE THIS PROJECT MUST PROCEED DOES ( NOT ) EXIST . THE COMMUNITY HAS NEVER EVER BEEN SHOWN ANY OFFICIAL PAPER WORK THAT... A PROBLEM REALLY EXISTS
To all our supporters this news clip is really worth watching. When will the WGCMA ever go away and accept that the community owns this historic site? The WGCMA should stop wasting taxpayers money and peoples time.
Here is documented evidence which clearly shows that somebody has their hand on the tap. This graph is from the river height bulletin that is updated every few hours. There is supposed to be an environmental release taking place at the moment which this graph clearly shows is happening but the water will not go around horseshoe bend until it gets to 0.66 on the gauge board at Coopers Creek. Don't you think it is odd that they always stop the water just after 0.60 so it doesn't go around the bend to enhance fish passage?
You have to wonder considering DELWP acknowledged the walking track down to the Horseshoe bend tunnel as one of the most significant walks in the region, and installing a pedestrian counter on the track which is currently up to 35,506 visitors who have accessed this site in just a few years. There are many other entry and exit points into the area but this just records one. Question: How then can the WGCMA come in and desecrate the track and area of such high heritage values?????
Just to keep the public informed. If you care to go to this link: https://www.heritage.vic.gov.au/…/currently-advertised-perm… and have a look in the appendices A to E you will clearly see this is no exaggeration. Please express your concerns to heritage victoria at this address: Heritage Victoria PO Box 500, 8002. Lets put a stop to this absolute nonsense.
Here is something to think about folks we the public and groups have been doing battle with the west gippsland managment AUTHORITY since 1998 all in our own time and no payment for our time . Every day they are at it , they get paid . get there meals breaks . and a work car supplied they have no mail or computer fees then knock off at 5pm and go home . thats when our free time is taken up it is now becoming a game or a joke at the cost of the taxpayers.
Whilst some people might think we exaggerate the dodgy nature of the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority, their latest permit application states the f...ishway is now 8 metres wide, yes, that's 8 METRES WIDE, last application it was 7 metres wide so where did they get the extra 1 metre width? We objected to 7 metres as being over the top and too massive for a tiny little fish - The Grayling! Please go on line at Heritage and read the new application - the objections close on the 11 April, 2018. True to the WGCMA's form, we have Easter right in the middle of the period to object when many people take holidays. The proposed fishway impinges on the protected river bed around the Horseshoe Bend between the Tunnel entrance and exit.
West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority's statement "honouring our past". What a joke. Follow this link to WGCMA home page.
They forget so easily what they were caught out trying to do to the Horseshoe bend tunnel in the past.
To all our kind supporters and followers we have just been notified that the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority has lodged yet another application to Heritage Victoria to grant them a permit for their fishway/canoeway construction. On behalf of the friends group we want to present the documentation to show you that it was over and done with. So here's the proof.
Great day out with the Baw Baw Shire Council CEO - Allison Leighton, Mayor - Joe Gauci, Ward Councillor - Micheal Leaney, the Friends of the Horseshoe Bend Tunnel as well as others discussing the positive outcomes and future for the Horseshoe Bend Tunnel in Walhalla.
Recent flood event in the horseshoe bend valley on the 3/12/17. Flood events of this magnitude are incredible to see. Well worth a look from the walking track. The track counter number for the month is 33,000.
To all those who had input and behind the scenes helpers we would like to say a huge thank you for your on going loyalty and support over these many years. Baw Baw Shire were always there for us and believed in what we were trying to achieve for the tourism in the area. Heritage Victoria also need to be commended for their thorough investigation into what was right for the community.
Glad to see the crowea exalata has re-established itself once again at the horseshoe bend tunnel. Beautiful out in flower. Track counter is now up to 32,050. A lot of foot traffic.
If your planning a walk this weekend there are a few trees over the walking track down to the tunnel. Quite easy to step over them, they will be reported to DELWP.
On a recent visit to the horseshoe bend tunnel on friday the 21-07-17 as you can see the water was exceptionally low at the exit of the tunnel. Looks like someone has had their hand on the tap again. Very odd after quite a few days of rain previous.
