I just moved to Seattle and I have to say sat out in this park, drinking coffee, listening to music and interacting with a variety of people. It was an awesome day!

This area was once a beautiful core of down town. Now fountain is off, criminals every where, dirty sidewalks, smells of urine. This city is sucking.

The event was an amazing and inspiring one, because we the people came together, to stand up against an action, that rips the fabric, of our nation. The people were all wonderful. I will never forget... this event. I work on 4th & Pine, and have seen hundreds of protests over the years. Yet, there has never been one even remotely as big or as passionate, as this one. The participants were all kind to each other and so pleasant. There was one really big downside to the event, though. None of us could hear any of the speakers. Not ever. I didn't hear one word that anyone said. Subsequently, we lost a ton of synergy & momentum, that could've occurred. We just stood there, to show our support, but got absolutely nothing out of the rally. If we are going to continue to have these types of anti-trump/rallies, we need to find venues that can actually support the number of people that attend. Maybe the Seattle Center or a stadium? We have already observed the voluminous numbers that want to protest Trump. Let's get it right, next time, so that we can maximize on these wonderful events. See More

Westlake Park is the popular and commercial heart of Seattle. You will meet people from every corner of the city at this transit and commercial hub. You can catch a light rail or bus ride almost anywh...ere in the city limits and points beyond from the stops under and around the square. You're minutes from the waterfront views of the Pike Place Market, from Macy's and Nordstrom's, from the Westin Hotel, from the downtown malls, from the distractions of Pike and Pine, from the Monorail. The Paramount theater is a few blocks up Pine, Benaroya Hall and the Seattle Art Museum a few blocks South. But, above all, this is the space where Seattle residents most typically assemble to hear and be heard on occasions of great political moment. This is one of the key launch pads of Seattle democracy. Westlake park is to Seattle, what Central park is to New York city. It is the cultural heart of its identity. The city council has smartly invested resources into keeping this area clean, safe and... fun. There are concessions, games, and friendly park attendants to answer questions, in what is arguably, the most well known intersection in all of Washington state. Table tennis, giant chess set, geosphere jungle gym, Westlake park is where it's at! See More

good people watching.
good place to attend or watch movement rallys. BLM, Occupy, Bernie, etc......
i live a block away and walk by daily.
on a recent weekend (2016) i saw someone openly injecting heroin twice in two days. no worries, drug injectors are too busy and doped up to hurt you.
the thuggy looking kids seem to hang by starbucks and pf chang these days with their pit bulls. if the cops come they go away generally. if it rains they definitely go away.

I love the changes made at Westlake that make it a better place for our kids. Now it's a good to to have your friends meet up with you. All in all, it is one of the best improvements in the downtown a...rea. I wish the Downtown Assn. would come up with more family friendly ideas for the area. Let's clean up 3rd Ave. then the shopping experience downtown will be so much better. See More

It's not in West Seattle, there's no Lake, and not much of a Park.

That makes sense....

Seems like Seattle Police has done a good job of clearing out the majority of the people doing drugs openly and got rid of the pan handlers. My kids an I were not harassed once. I think we may start v...enturing downtown Seattle more often to spend money. See More

Thanks for creating a safe place for everyone. I like the variety of foods, diversity of people and it gives me an opportunity to help another person when they are hungry.

Ice Sculpture in Westlake Park
Loving the musical variety today at #WestlakePark !

Love is in the air! And L-O-V-E is in Westlake Park, spelled out in four-foot ice-block letters to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Flowers frozen inside this affectionate installation create an eye-catching, vibrant display of color, depth and beauty. Stop by soon, though. Even at seven feet wide and 1,400 pounds, this statement on the season will soon be gone.

If you’re looking for non-frozen blossoms for that special someone, the Seattle Flower Truck will be joining us in the park. Bring your partner, your best friend, or just yourself to Westlake Park on Feb. 14. and experience LOVE. Share your photos using #downtownseattle and we’ll post our favorites.
