We’d like to invite you to check out our new web site, Wonderstrange Arts!
Created by five artists—Ann Pierson D’Angelo, Amy Sargent, Sarah Trumpp, Nanner Galambos and Cindy Jo Blair—Wonderstrange Arts is the collaboration of five friends who don’t live close enough to one another to rent a communal art space or store front. After grousing about... our geographical separations and the perils of selling (and getting lost) on etsy, we decided to do something about it. We came up with Wonderstrange Arts, and we’re really excited to share it with you.
The five of us at Wonderstrange Arts first met online on the world’s largest mail art trading site, where we built relationships based on mutual admiration, a shared sense of humor, and wonderful strangeness. In the summer of 2010, we made plans to meet in Rochester, New York, where perfect strangers became perfect friends. It was in Rochester that the idea for Wonderstrange Arts was born.
The current Wonderstrange Arts site offers retail shops, but we also offer a creative blog, where visitors can find free downloads and tutorials, regularly updated and expanded by all five of us. We really hope that our ideas and giveaways on the blog will make you regular visitors to the site—and you can sign up for automatic updates via email.
Down the road, we plan to create a wonderful online bazaar atmosphere at Wonderstrange Arts, where we will host seasonal online art festivals, creativity retreats, and occasional artists-in-residence. We’re starting small, but we anticipate growing this little sideshow into a virtual three-ring circus. Come on over and take a peek—and if you like what you see, bookmark our site! We’ll be adding inventory and blog posts all the time. See you there!
