It's a cute little zoo, but there were ponds and stuff that were empty all over (that would've been really neat to see), and the animal enclosures smelled pretty strongly of feces... They weren't on top of cleanliness. I know we were a little early in the year, but if it's open to the public it should be properly maintained... The glass around the animals was so reflective we couldn't see unless or faces were right up to the glass... That was pretty annoying. Overall, admission was cheap so we weren't mad about our visit, but it's definitely not one of the better zoos. See More

I don't think Zoo Boise knows how to accommodate large crowds, when you have a free zoo day the least you can do is put extra porta potties in instead of making 30 women wait in line and little kids w...ho have to go to the bathroom. a lot of the animals were put away for the season, but it was a nice day on zoo day so I thought some of the animals should have been brought out since it was about 64 degrees. it's hard to rate this zoo, because I've been too bigger zoos in larger cities. if Boise wants to compete with the other bigger cities they need to step up their game maybe get some more animals and keep the place a little cleaner. It was a great visit, however was upset to see so many displays closed. And are we getting new tigers, and a new male lion? I know it's cold out but love to see more of the animals out. But I am mostl...y upset about not having the animals that I came to love as a kid that are now gone... I was born and raised here and loved it as a kid. I just wish more from our little zoo. Terrible signage. Never would have found it without Google navigation. Only sign I saw, when we arrived in the parking lot, said "Start Here." I luckily guessed that was the zoo entrance. Once inside,... about 75% of the animals were closed inside their houses, so we didn't see them. Restroom was messy and it was only around noon on a Thursday when we visited. Polite staff at the little cafe. Really, if Boise wants to make any money with attractions like this, they need to put up signs on the freeway and along the street route. Maybe a billboard on Hwys 184/20 & 84. See More

For the price, this Zoo is worth it! The Giraffe, lion, tiger, hyenna, and zebra enclosures look great with plenty of space. Lots of exhibits look great. However, the other animal enclosures should bigger and have real trees instead of plastic. Lots of animals were in tiny cement enclosures with no real plants and nasty looking conditions. There's pee everywhere on the floor in the rainforest and monkey exhibit with no dirt, just cement floors. The rainforest exhibit looks like very unhealthy living conditions for the animals. There were lots of sick, injured animals that were out of their exhibits in the vet. Some things are great about this place but other things obviously need major improvements! See More

I was disappointed in the zoo. Many of the exhibits were empty and several of the animals were sick, so they weren't out. My kids loved the slides so we spent about an hour playing in that area. Th...ey also loved the carousel. The only animals they were able to really see were the goats, a few monkeys, the wallabys (which apparently they're getting rid of), and the penguins. The glass reflects the sun so it was almost impossible to see inside most of the exhibits that actually did have animals. We were so excited about the butterfly area, only to find it closed. I was seriously disappointed in the lack of handicap accessibility. Stairs everywhere and ramps are few and far between. We had to push our stroller down three sets of stairs because there is no signage indicating where the ramps are. The doors are super heavy and there isn't a push button handicap accessible door to be found in the entire zoo. If you are in a wheelchair or have a walker, I would suggest staying away until they address that issue. The zoo is small so I didn't expect too much, but I've been to smaller zoos with much better lay out, accessibility and animals. We would have had more fun running around in the grass in the amazing and expansive park next door and saving our money. See More

We love Zoo Boise! My daughter and I have had season's passes for several years and we have a wonderful time every time we visit. Yes, I have plenty of experience with zoos in the big city - Seatt...le, Salzburg, Vancouver, Bay Area, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Portland - and this place is just as well-run and beautiful as anywhere. I'm a senior and been to a lot of zoos big and small. This was the best zoo ever. Clean and obviosly all wildlife is cared for. There were volunteers around who were helpful with questions. The extra... spaces for kids to play and play equipment were wonderful. See More

Zoo Boise is one of our favorites places to visit when we are looking for something to do with the kids. We enjoy walking through the beautiful landscaped property and saying hello to all the animals.... The carousel is one of the kids favorites and of course the giraffe slide is always a hit. And not to mention the friendly staff! We love zoo Boise. See More

I use to love Zoo Boise but Saturday was their free entry and my sister has never been there. We were walking into the gate to go in and a lady told us we couldn’t go in because last entry was at 4:30.... It was 4:29 and she was one of the rudest people (because of her tone) I have met in Boise. She didn’t even apologize or anything. I’m disappointed and will not support the zoo anymore. See More

It was a beautiful day and everyone seemed to have taken advantage of the free day.(crowd was almost unbearable) but what can we expect with the weather so perfect on a free day. Only ligitamen was the seemingly poor health of the tiger. He appeared to have a huge gash on its hip and could barely walk. See More

Fun zoo! There was a lot of empty exhibits and not as much as we planned on seeing there. It’s still a fun little place to go, but not the best zoo.

Yes it was very crowded but it was an amazing day with my family. We all enjoyed our time there and will definitely be going back very soon. Thank you for offering a free day to the public.

Yikes... I wanted to love this zoo but yikes! I have been to some amazing zoo's ; Denver, Bronx, central park, San Antonio, Sandiego
and they have all done an incredible job of giving their animals be...autiful, clean, large enclosures that resemble the animals natural habitats and not cages. I was truly saddened by the state The Boise zoo. It's dirty, the Animals look miserable, unhealthy, and the enclosures are rundown. There was actually trash in a few of the animals enclosures that was supposed to be "enrichment" toys for the animals. SERIOUSLY?! In this day and age the state of this zoo is unacceptable. It's time time to do something Boise zoo!!! See More

My daughter is two and she had fun at the zoo, however, there are a few issues that should be addressed. I could not find a restroom with a changing area to change diapers. There should be a hand was...hing area near the children's area where they feed the animals. And a huge problem is the parking. We are from out of state and got to the zoo near opening time. All of the parking is limited to 2 hours. When we inquired at the front desk we were told that the zoo is small and we would definitely been done within 2 hours. When we inquired again upon paying the entrance fee we were told that they do not enforce the 2 hour limit and that it is only for the college students. Well, guess what, as we were leaving after about 3 hours, there was an officer writing us a parking ticket. The officer agreed that there was no place to park that was not limited to 2 hours and his only suggestion was that next time we leave the zoo prior to the 2 hours and if need be to re park our vehicle. Seriously, how do you tell your child that we need to leave the zoo, pack the stroller etc, in the vehicle, place the child in the car seat, drive around in circles looking for another parking spot, repay the entrance fee etc... all while your 2 year old in throwing a tantrum because they do not understand and still want to stay and see the animals. I went to the zoo spooktacular last weekend and I was very disappointed with the event. When you first walk in there is no real event taking place except the concession stand a string of lights tellin...g you to follow path. Walked to where the "event" was taking place and there was very little to do and no one at the games they had put out for people to play so kids dont get any prizes candy or direction of the game. They had more interactive things such as the merry go round and face painting which both activities cost which seems silly since I already paid at the door. Overall it was a poorly lit area with little to do and and I'm not sure if there was anyone even working there. See More

I was very disappointed in everything about the zoo this year, took my grandson on 8/28/2017 and it was dirty, overgrown, very unclean, the animals looked terrible, the ammonia in the rainforest encl...osure was so strong I almost passed out, upon exiting the rain forest I vomited. Half the animals weren't even in their enclosure to view?!?! There was only one giraffe, last year There was 2. The meerkats weren't there, the snow leopard is gone, the water in all the enclosures was green, only one refreshment stand was open, the boat was closed, and there was mice running along the paths, it was horrid conditions for the animals. They need new management or to close, very disappointed for $10. See More

I was raised in Boise. I've been to the zoo many, many times over 56 years. I have to say it doesn't hold a candle to the zoo I grew up with. I don't know what happened to all the animals, no bears, n...o tigers, no Buffalo, and the lay out was a complete mess. I was embarrassed to take my wife and two little girls there. I had spoken to them about all the cool animals and how much fun it was, only to be appalled by what has happened to my beloved zoo. We won't be back until they make it accessable to more people and get the beautiful animals back into public view. Shame on you Boise Zoo, you have let generations down as well as the animals you currently have . See More

My family and I went to zoo boise back in July and we had a ton of fun. The animals seemed to all be out and the monkeys were very active. I also got a picture of a couple of cute little south America...n Monkeys which, thanks to a very helpful rep that I emailed from their web page, told me that they were Cotton Top Tamerins. I'm a professional artist and was able to make a great digital painting. Great Zoo and great people! See More
