My brother just released the first song for his Bored Summer project. Love the video, too. Featuring J. Francis on guitar. I have to step up my game. My brothers are killing it. Also: fx500 - Lush Strings. The patch before soft focus. Get on it!
It’s been five years since I released the first EP.
Choose your own sentiment:
Poignant sentence about how time gets away from us all....
Quote from famous orator about life, and how we have to live it to the fullest.
Throw away ironic bullshit which will just wash over you, and leave no lasting impact.
Stoked to be part of this. Can’t wait!
In a little over a week I'll be playing this show. It's the first show I've played in nearly a year. I don't really know what to say about it. I'd love to see you there.
'D. Pearce imagines that solitary soul, introspective, looking at itself in search of something that only music can give. He is, in a way, a "hero", struggling alone against his fears and against the fact that no one will pay attention - and who to render will see another artist, that of the altar, untouchable, genial and also solitary, using the distortions as Weapon for understanding.'
Whoa, I guess I'm a hero.
Thanks for the review!
Whoa. 2016, huh?
It's been a year full of personal trials, and successes. I've been the busiest I've ever been.
I can't believe it's been (almost) three months since I released 'sunshine'. 'sunshine' was a labour of love, and it took so long for it to feel 'right'. I had to fight against every urge to rush it out, and in the end I'm really glad I took the time to complete it how I wanted to. I'm extremely proud of the songs on this album, and I really hope you like it as muc...h as I do.
Thinking ahead for the next year, I can see more shows, and more songs. I'm rethinking my writing process, and I'm preparing a new live band. I can't wait to start work on the next batch of songs, and I just hope I can write something which stands up right next to this.
Have a happy holiday period, and all the best for 2017.
After such a long time apart, it was music that brought us back together. 'Only Old': the guitars; your voice. I couldn't believe the same boy I met when I was six or seven could write something so delicate. I didn't know you as closely as your friends, and when my family moved, we only saw each other sparingly. I regret that. A selfish thing for me to feel.
I remember drinking beers with you on a bouncy gymnasium floor at ATP. I remember a friend asking:
'How do you guys kn...ow each other?'
'We're fake cousins'.
Such a bizarre day; one I will always treasure.
It was your music that helped me realise that no matter the distance, or the circumstances, family is family. Now more than ever, your music will serve to bring us all together.
Thank you so much for the review, Sounds Better With Reverb!
Amazing. Absolutely amazing.
Can't recommend this enough.
Grab it now.
Hey all, I'm excited to let you know I just released a new single called 'last minute'. Feel free to check it out, download it, share it with buddies, or ignore... it entirely. It can be found here: https://jfrancismusic.bandcamp.com/album/last-minute-single
Big thanks to Billy Wright for providing the cover photo.
Brotherly love. Thanks J. Francis. Couldn't have done it without you.
KIGOband, who I've been lucky enough to lend bass duties for (in a live setting) has just released a new album. It's really good, very much worth a listen and a... purchase. My favourite track would me 'a memory is not enough', but they're all belters.
It can be found here: https://kigo.bandcamp.com/album/sunshine
Pictured: me playing bass averagely while D. Pearce (kigo himself) arbitrarily turns knobs.
