The service was fabulous and the atmosphere wonderful. Thank goodness because the food was lousy. I ordered salmon - cooked to dryness - with rice - cooked to sogginess. Replaced it with a burger medium, received quite well done. The house-made steak sauce was good enough to drown out the blandness of the food, though. The server was wonderful about all of it but really how far can that go when receiving two terrible dishes like that? In the end it was a fairly expensive outing to wind up leaving wishing we’d gone anywhere else. Good service and atmosphere, though. See More

If your looking for a great local restaurant in Canal Winchester, I suggest Village Wines and Bistro. First time there tonight, although our steak was not cooked correctly, the rest of our meal could ...not have been better. Great atmosphere and amazing service. The Manager on duty, handled our small issue perfectly. My only suggestions, find a Chef that can cook a steak properly (ours was cooked incorrect twice and not sure it hit the grill when it was sent back). Add some Kobe or Wagyu Steaks from Gabriel Farms and make sure they are cooked correctly, don’t change anything else. This may be my new favorite local spot for a good meal. Thanks for doing things right! See More

Last night we took Penny, our 18 month old daughter, to Village Wines for dinner. We have been here before and knowing that it is a classy, busy restaurant we knew we had better try and be quick as he...r temperament is a little unpredictable in the evening. But we really wanted a night out. Our waiter was so understanding and just awesome!! He brought her some vanilla ice cream before her food came out to keep her satisfied. He also brought the food, check and to-go boxes quickly (at our request). This was a very family friendly, wonderful dinner at a really nice restaurant. Kudos to our wonderful waiter for really knowing how to cater to our whole family. Thanks! See More

Without a doubt, one of our favorite local spots to dine. We have never had a bad meal there, and in nice weather the patio is the place to be... very relaxing and enjoyable.

Tonight was our 3rd visit, and we were not disappointed. Kudos to the Chef! Chef consistently cooks a thick filet mignon to juicy perfection and also delivers a tender, melt-in-your-mouth calamari. S...ervice was also excellent. Still haven't managed to leave room for a homemade dessert. Locally sourced food, everything made in-house, spot on flavors, kind service staff... it's a gem. Seriously, do you need me to twist your arm to try this place?!? See More

What a terrible experience! We had reservations for Mother's Day brunch and they ran out of food! We waited over an hour for our food only to find out they had no fries for the burgers and fries and i...nstead of serving potatoes with the hash, they served it with corn chips! We left hungry and with no apology from the management. Our server was mortified. We watched tables of people leave when their food arrived because this special day's brunch was so poorly done. We have been here several times in the past. Tonight the food, the service was superb. Except... we had asked if they had a particular favorite wine ( they are a wine shop so I thought they might have... it - it!s called Dark Horse) and they brought back a bottle of Black Stallion which they said was similar to the Dark Horse - and in the same price range. I asked if it came by the glass but he said no so I then asked if we could take it home if we didn't finish it. Yes, he said.

So we ended up drinking the bottle - I split it with my sister.

It was good, not as much like the Dark Horse as I thought it might be, but good in its own way- I liked it.

But then the bill came; they had split it up between my sister and myself - but then e noticed a $4.50 "corking charge" - on each of our bills. We asked about this and were told they always charge this for a bottle of wine.

I have been to several very expensive restaurants in New York City where my daughter lives and in several expensive restaurants in Chicago where my son lives. We have purchased at least one bottle of wine at every time we dined, and I never had to pay a corking fee. My daughter said that she has been in NY restaurants where they charge a corking fee - but only for people who bring in their own bottle.

This was a definite downer on an otherwise excellent dinner event. But we may cross this establishment off of our list.

The wine was a $30.00 dollar bottle of wine. Had they charged $39.00 for it I probably would not even thought about it, but to charge me a corking charge was simply outrageous. At least they should have told me that and I would have purchase a glass of Merlot.

Disappointed customer
