I have participated with Pahl's CSA for 3 seasons and have signed up for a 4th. Last year (2017) was a difficult growing season in Minnesota so I understand items may have been purchased to beef up th...e shares. I have had little issue with spoilage over the years, some is expected. Best thing to do is eat it or prep it for preserving right away - I make soup, can and freeze.
Overall I have been pleased with the value of my standard share. There is usually a good variety of produce and even a few surprises. I have been able to try items and recipes I may not have even thought to before. It has helped me make healthier choices throughout the year. Looking forward to this year's bounty!

This summer will be our third season receiving share boxes (we got the teaser share for a family of 4) from Pahl's and we've been thrilled with the produce we've gotten. A few days before receiving e...ach week's share, we receive an email notifying us of what we might expect in our share box along with recipes. Pahl's also notifies us when field conditions have been wet which can lead to produce spoiling more quickly and they suggest using it quickly (which we did and didn't have problems). Having grown up on a farm, I understand the challenges of growing produce in a garden especially when it's wet. We even got our bonus box of tomatoes and made homemade spaghetti sauce which was so much better than anything you can buy in the store. We feel we've gotten our money's worth and then some - the convenience of picking our share box up close to home and the bonus of getting either bread from Great Harvest or meat from Von Hansen's added to the value. We look forward to another wonderful year of fresh produce from Pahl's! See More

I love my new landscape design and installation by Pahls Market! Jason and his team were incredible to work with. They showed up when promised and completed the work as planned. I’d highly recommend ...them for remodel and new construction landscaping. Plus, they found me a great concrete contractor for my driveway! A+ for Pahls Market! See More

My nephew and I made a tip basket this weekend. We had a blast. While their was confusion in where and how to start and long lines with not as many people to help you get started, once you were starte...d staff assigned to the areas were pretty helpful! We made something really wonderful, had a great time, food was provided (along with wine!). See More

If you are looking to purchase a CSA membership look elsewhere. Pahl's promises food that is locally grown, but according to Gary Pahl who I had a very unpleasant phone conversation with last year wh...en they don't grow enough he buys from a wholesaler to prevent, "bitching," from his customers. Every single eggplant I received last year had sticker remnants on it and was less fresh than what I could purchase at my local cub foods. You will get so much rotten food that you may start wondering if they should be paying you for use of your dumpster. After months of this I finally contacted Pahl's where I had the conversation with Mr. Pahl. He swore at me, belittled me and finally just to get off the phone I asked for a pro rated refund of the remaining CSA baskets. That only covered the baskets I did not pick up, not the spoiled food I'd been receiving for months or the "store credit" I received for ordering early in the season. Buyer beware. See More

Avoid the CSA. Its cheap for a reason. I believe they must give the CSA customers the produce from their farmers markets that are nearing expiration. You WILL get moldy produce. It is NOT worth the mo...ney. Pay a little more from a place that values it's CSA patrons. See More

I can't believe we haven't been to Paul's Fall Festival before!!! What a blast!!! First off we brought our 5 year old granddaughter, she bounced in the pumpkin, picked out two pumpkins and bought her... light up necklace for trick or treating at night. Second and most important, we bought a maple tree and almost passed out when the cashier told us about the "tree" guarantee!!! Holy moly!!! Thank you Pahl's! We will be back! See More

I wish I would have read the reviews about the Pahl's CSA program before participating in it. We've had issues with receiving rotten/spoiled produce each week. I understand that some times things go quickly (especially when dealing with produce), but it's quite disappointing to throw away items on the day we pick up our box.

Last week there was a beautiful eggplant in our box with a produce sticker from Illinois on it. It's clear they tried removing the sticker as to make us believe we were receiving local produce. I find it quite comical that they couldn't be bothered to spend the extra 20 seconds to remove the entire sticker if that's how they chose to operate.

The whole purpose for us to participate in this program was to help support community agriculture. I would have been better off just buying produce from the local farmers market each week.

Super cute place. Not as much as I remember there being when I was a child but they did add a corn pit that my 4 year old had a blast in. Cheap prices, so my daughter was happy to be bringing home 10 ...pumpkins, all different sizes. love that they still have popcorn for the kids. no complaints here! See More

A great place to take the family for fun and fall decor. Or, the reason we went, to get pumpkins and Carmel apples.

My daughter and I planted our moss baskets on Saturday. It was a very fun day, with snacks and beverages to add to the fun. The staff was great, helping us decide on which plants to use. Now we can't ...wait until we pick them up in May! I know from previous experience with this that it will be amazing to see how those tiny little plugs turn into a gorgeous basket of beautiful flowers! Can't wait!! See More

Can I do zero stars? No? One will have to do. I've had all I can stand from Pahl's CSA, and I've got a month left to go. The produce is BELOW grocery store quality - The acorn squash I picked up this... week is already molding two days later, I've recieved tomatoes with bruises and holes in them, my "harvest all season" basil plant was quite literally folded in half with a broken stem. Every week something is sub standard in my box, and its only the teaser size. I cant imagine the number of duds in a full share portion. For roughly $15 per week, each carrot, each zuccini, each of my often 2 leaves of kale (what do you make with 2 leaves anyway, ONE salad?) costs more than $1 each when you do the math of weekly cost/number of items. This is my 4th year in a CSA, first at Pahls, so I know what is expected, and this food is garbage. It isn't fresher, it isn't cheaper, it doesn't taste better. Avoid like the plague if you like and know good, fresh food, you won't find it here. My feeling is - what we get in our CSA box is the stuff that a produce mananger at a grocery store would reject outright, not allow to be put out for sale. The Farmers market is better by leaps and bounds. The stall owners at a farmer's market would be embarrassed to sell some of the sorry looking veggies I have been presented with in my CSA box. As far as I'm concerned, Pahls should be embarassed too. See More
