The Phuket Proms Team will practice every Sunday start again 11 February 2018 at Andy's House - Chaofa Garden Home - opposite Boat Lagoon.
We have no age restriction so every one Thai or foreigner is invited to join us with his/her instrument. Our goal is to practice for a smart concert in about 3 months time in Phuket, to promote playing an instrument and doing music together in groups or orchestras.
Please get in contact with us....
Musical pieces on our current list are i.e.
Flower Duet from Lakame - Leo Delibres
Galop from La Boutique Fabtastique - Gioaccino Rossini
Capricio #24 from 24 Capprici Op.1 - Niccolo Paganini
Hornpipe from The Water Music - Georg Friedrich Handel
Allegro from The Water Music - Georg Friedrich Handel
Menuet from L'Arlesienne Suite #2 - Georges Bizet
Le Bananier - Louis Moreo Gottschalk
Farandole from L'Arlesienne Suite #2 - George Bizet
The Laughing Song from the Fledermaus - Johann Strauss Jr.
and more to come!
Of course, you can make suggestions.
We are not professionals nor do we want to be one but we like to have fun in doing music together and give a great example to our youth that music is something which will accompany you your whole life.
I (Andi) haven't played for decades such pieces even I taught some students at Rawai Progressive School during my time there as Educational Director in 2004. But we are eager to practice every day and Andy (he worked before at Mission Hospital) gives really good advises and helps. He has studied violin and plays viola and violin. He is also a certified Suzuki Violin teacher! a very recommended one
If you haven't an instrument right now but you played before i.e. cello or piano or violin or viola or a Thai instrument before and you know how to follow classical music notation then don't hesitate. We have some spare instruments an this should not hinder you to join. We are looking currently especially for Cello and Piano players.
Kind regards and in the hope to meet you on Sunday 11 February. Please give us a call if you like to meet before or need a pickup!
I hope they will introduce that at Phuket Schools to put the teacher phones in at least!
