Many of you know my mom passed in December and with Mother’s Day approaching I wrote a song in her honor. I’ll share with you Sunday if you message me your email or you leave your email in the comment section.
This is long and important! And my life's work.
Girls CAN be musicians! You're probably saying, of course they can but do you know the statistics on females in the music industry? It's devastating and heartbreaking. Just a little peek into statistics...Festivals this summer had less than 28% of female bands performing.
Bonnaroo: 24 of 98, 24.4 percent...
Coachella, Weekend 1: 28 of 164, 17 percent and in the case of Skate & Surf Festival: 1 out of 50, 2 %
The past 3 years I along with @nashvilletreehouse and our nonprofit Water The Tree have worked endless hours cultivating community and resources among professional music industry female artists, songwriters, musicians and publishers to provide support and opportunity for young female singer songwriters and musicians. Our work is primarily volunteer so we are asking you... On #givingtuesday to raise awareness, your voices and pocketbooks to change the dynamic and future for females in the music industry.
If you know a young female singer songwriter/musician (from the age of 13-28) that needs help with the next step in their music? Give a donation in their name and gift them with one of the following:
