This week is National Minority Cancer Awareness Week. African-American men are at a particularly high risk of developing--and dying from--prostate cancer. As a high risk group, black men should bring up prostate cancer risk and seriously discuss testing with their doctors.

This is huge news: the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has changed their rating of the PSA prostate cancer test, from actively discouraging men from taking it to admitting that men between 55 and 69 should make their own decisions.

In a draft recommendation, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force says men should talk to their doctors about screening and make an individual decision.
