Peace Corps Guyana had an incredible Camp GLOW this summer, including a visit from Miss World - Guyana. We love campers' new definition of FEAR: Face Everything And Rise! ‪#‎LetGirlsLearn‬

Peace Corps Guyana added 10 new photos to the album: Camp Glow 2016.

Two (2) weeks ago, one hundred (100) campers, counselors, and mentors from all across Guyana gathered for a week-long girls' empowerment GLOW (Girls Leading Our... World) Camp. Peace Corps Volunteers and Guyanese counterparts led sessions on healthy body image, mental and sexual health, goal setting and other pertinent topics.

This year, participants redefined fear into F.E.A.R (Face Everything And Rise)!

Miss Guyana World 2016 Nuriyyih Gerard led a session on Mental Health. She also performed a skit for the girls as well as facilitated a Q&A session.

What unexpected role did you take on as a Volunteer?

Now, I know a lot about a lot of sports, but cricket was as-yet uncharted territory for me.

"During my Peace Corps South Africa service I started a small music project at my school. I was able to get a loan of 8 violins to teach 10 learners. The kids were empowered by music and they love playing the violin. I took this picture of one of my learners while she was introducing the violin to her family. It was an eye-opening experience to the learners, the community and myself." – Laura Jones

Five schools and 500 people came together in Peace Corps Zambia for a day of soccer and netball games, a Grassroot Soccer demonstration and lots of dancing.

The best part was that throughout the tournament, I hardly did anything. It was all them. The school and community ran the show. And that’s why it worked.

Every Volunteer house is different.

In Mongolia, you might live in a ger; in Swaziland, it could be a rondavel. Just as each Volunteer experience is different, so is each house.
