As this Christmas season wraps up and we look ahead to 2018, remember that the goodwill you spread all year makes next year's Peppermint Lightning stronger. #spreadthespark.

Also, we're open to any suggestions for making next year's light contest more successful. This years winner will receive the full prize we collected through nominations. ($10)

I'm a little behind getting pictures of the nominees up, (technical issues) but they are coming. We only got 5 nominees, so the prize pool is only $10 this year. We seemed to generate a lot if interest but not a lot of participation.

You've got until the end of the day tomorrow!

Peppermint Lightning

There is still plenty of time to jump in on the 1st Annual Spread the Spark Christmas Light Contest!

2. Message us a picture (or if you're local to HQ, an address will do) to nominate somoene. (You can nominate yourself.)
3. Pictures will be posted the week of 12/18 so the community can vote.
4. The entire prize pool will be divided between the top 2 or 3 winners (depending on the size of the prize pool) and awarded before Christmas. (We're working on a special trophy too.)

Share some pictures! Let's see what you've done to power up that Peppermint Lightning. Didn't get to decorate this year? Share a picture of a neighbor's decorations and thank them for their spirit while you're at it.

Phillip Davis

So, let's talk about Christmas lights:
First, I adore them. Even a few meager strands placed loving somewhere in the yard or around a door or window never cease... to make me smile. Big displays fill me with wonder.
Lights can get expensive. You seem to never have the right number or length extension cords. Strings are either too short or too long for where you want them. Sometimes a strand of lights will inexplicably stop working, but for me all of that is worth it when I put up and turn on the lights on my house. I enjoy them every time I come and go from my house, but that's not why I put them up.
I know what seeing other people's lights does for my Christmas spirit. So, in efforts to #spreadthespark a little, I make the effort even those years where I just don't feel like it. Hours in the garage, on the roof, in the yard, and multiple trips to Walmart (even on Black Friday!) all become worth every moment and every penny when I catch someone slowing down to look or mentioning in passing how the lights look. If one student or one parent, one neighbor or one friend get a little boost to their cheer,I consider it a job well done.
I'll never be featured on The Great Christmas Light Fight. No video of my house will ever go viral due to its brilliance and style, but if the spirit that shines from my house inspires one person to go ahead and put their own lights up or restores a little Peppermint Lightning for someone who might not have been feeling it then I am plenty proud of my yard.
