This is an obvious response to customer outrage and thus it is a good sign; it is important however that we keep the pressure up, as this is a ridiculously limited feature set compared to the ones that have been taken away.

It is appalling to realize how poorly Apple knows its user base...

The new iWork applications—Pages, Numbers, and Keynote—were released for Mac on October 22nd. These applications were rewritten from the ground up to be fully 64-bit and to support a unified file format between OS X and iOS 7 versions, as well as iWork for iCloud beta.

C'mon people, we need to do better than that! This page should have 1000's of likes. Share it, invite your friends to it, the more noise, the better

People are beginning to get seriously pissed off:

"In the middle of editing a document, a notice popped up advertising NewPages 1. Now that was over the top. I immediately filed a consumer complaint with the state of California.

I'm sorry that it came to that. I just don't know any other way to make Apple take this issue seriously as an emergency, and not as a request for enhancements that they can consider and possibly implement in the sweet bye-and-bye. I believe a consume...r complaint will be more effective than a discussion post, a feedback form, or a one-star rating.

Do it."

Fellow user Peter Breis is a real expert on using iWork and had a whole discussion board dedicated to this here http://www.freeforum101.com/iworktipsntrick/

He promised to publish there a complete list of all the missing or altered features in Pages 5 vs. Pages 4.3 which I will cross-post as soon as he makes it available.

This is very useful resource to evaluate to which extent the new Pages 5 is right for you BEFORE you take the jump that may potentially damage your work.

Has someone tried the new iMovie? I have held off the update on the basis of the bad iWork experience, but the iMovie boards are not as resonating as the iWork ones...

Any feedback?

More censorship: this one post was modded down because I was (mildly) abusing some other member in the ASC.

What are you, a member of some Church? Have I offended you religious beliefs?

...

Boy, what a fanboi.

You do not seem to understand that this is purely a commercial transaction, money was exchanged, contracts signed. Software licensing works like this: I pay money to you, the developer, you give me a license to use software, as is. I have been in software for 30 years now, I know the shit.

You then UNILATERALLY decide the software needs to change to something completely different, with a completely different set of functionalities, screwing up my work and that of many people, stick on it the same name and make it free, and you want me NOT to complain?

Sorry to say, you are just plain wrong. Not only I will and will continue to complain - and not just here, rest assured - but I hope someone more versed in legal matters can advise whether this is not a blatant breach of contract.
--------------------------------------------------

The reason is post this is because of the last sentence - I am no expert in law, but was wondering if this cannot be considered breach of contract

Doug Phillips, what do you say?

Another easy thing you can do to make this swell is "Invite Your Friends to Like This Page"...

This discussion on the Apple Support Communities has a scattered list of the removed features: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23469535#23469535

2. Single model templates. You turn off document text to get rid of the default. Not sure if this then can be mixed and matched with Word Processing templates

To all people who are liking this page: it's important you also "Share" it so that more users see this and we keep up the pressure.

This "battle" can be won - Apple has already given in to user pressure on software before (see the "Save as..." snafu) and it's not like we need a point release tomorrow.

To be effective, however, the pressure must be visible and the numbers large, thank you!

And - not surprisingly - now Apple are resorting to censorship. Here is a copy of an email I just got:

Sorry to disagree, robogobo - Apple's fortunes are ENTIRELY due to loyal users but this should be never taken for granted. Disgruntled users can bring a lot of damage to a company so heavily depended on positive reputation to sell products at a steep premium. This "upgrade" is a joke - BTW, if anyone's still wondering how to restore old iWork '09, here is a short guide: http://sonofgeektalk.wordpress.com/…/un-fucking-apples-fuc…/ Oh, and don't forget to like this pressure page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Apple-give-us-back-iWork-09/169283333271374

Pages is down to 2.0 stars on the App Store: Pages - https://macappsto.re/it/fU-yy.m

If you have not done so, please take a minute to write a 1-star review to make sure Apple notices our frustration!

I have posted here http://sonofgeektalk.wordpress.com/…/un-fucking-apples-fuc…/ the procedure to continue to use iWork '09.

As Emilio suggested, the old software is indeed still on your hard drive.

However, these are now old versions no longer supported by Apple. Eventually, some change to the OS will render them unusable and we will be in effect be shouldered.

...

This is why it's important we exert as much pressure as possible on Apple to restore the old functionality level in the supported products.

Please share this page on your timeline and on any board you visit to increase the visible pressure on Apple.

As Emilio rightly pointed out, the old iWork '09 has been saved in a folder on your hard disk upon upgrading. All you have to do is: create a folder called iWork '13, copy Pages and Keynote into it...
sonofgeektalk.wordpress.com

Apple's last upgrades to Pages and Keynote are embarrassingly flawed. Numerous perfectly functioning features have been removed to dumb them down enough to be used on an iPad.

(I actually think using them on an iPad is a totally stupid idea, but this may be just me.)

Once a document written on previous versions is opened in the new it will be screwed forever, because the "Save as Pages '09" option will not restore the damage that the opening has done to the file.

...

I think it's important to alert other users, so that they DO NOT UPGRADE, and pressure Apple so that it makes again available for download iWork '09 for those who would like to continue to use it.

To make this pressure visible I had two ideas, but maybe there are others:

1) I have created this page, please like it and share it so that others like it

2) take a minute to write a 1-star review on the App Store
