Eastbound Center Ridge is closed at Barton Rd. due to an accident just over the Westlake border. The road is open at Bradley and Center Ridge.

Yesterday one of our officers walked out to his cruiser to start his shift and found a blue note on his car. As he went closer to read it, it started his shift off right.

It's the little things, friends. Thanks.

Center Ridge Rd. is open but the westbound back up is considerable. It will clear but avoid the area for a bit.

Center Ridge is closed for the parade.

The Corn Festival Parade will be stepping off from the Marc's parking lot at 1:30 this afternoon. As such, Center Ridge Rd. will be closed between Marc's and SR 83 for the duration of the parade. We understand that you need milk, and we can appreciate that, but once the parade starts we can't let you "just sneak down to Aldi's." Please plan accordingly.

Hoepfully the rain holds off and everyone can enjoy the parade. Be safe and have fun on the last day of the Corn Festival.

Due to the conditions of the lot because of the rain, the Bainbridge Rd. parking lot will be closed today. All other lots are still open. Remember, there is NO PARKING on the hydrant side of Cadet and Macarthur.

The annual North Ridgeville Lions Club 5K and 10K is set to kick off at 9am today. While there won't be any road clousers, there will be runners in the road. Runners will be on Bainbridge Rd. and throughout most of the neighborhoods off of Bainbridge Rd. Please use caution when driving through the area and give them plenty of room.

Good luck to all of the runners.

Hey. Guess what time it is. Yep. Here's a few things you'll probably want to know:

1. Bainbridge Rd. is closed between 83 and Root Rd. and won't reopen until Monday at 8am.

2. The parking area on Bainbridge Rd. just west of Root Rd. will be open. Now listen, be smart about this. It's supposed to rain tomorrow. A lot. If you are driving a Yugo with bald tires don't park there. You will need to be winched out of there and that isn't cheap. Unless you really have a Yug...o, in which case we will send Ptlm. Mundell over there to carry your car back to the road.

3. There will be restricted parking on Cadet, Macarthur, and Aurensen and it will be enforced. Do not park on the hydrant side of Cadet and Macarthur. There are signs. Yes, they apply to you. No, we're probably not too busy to write parking tickets. I am working this weekend and I will be citing cars parked in violation. If we determine that safety vehicles can't get through because you parked illegally, we might end up towing your car, and again, that isn't cheap. Please pay attention to all signage.

4. The Library will be open and you will be able to park at City Hall if you're going.

5. The police department will be operating as normal. We are available at any time during the festival and if you need us, just walk into the lobby and pick up the phone for dispatch.

6. Handicap parking will be available in the city hall complex. Have your placard with you as well as the person to whom it was issued in the car. The fine for violating this is between $250-$500. That is $250-$500 more than it would cost you to park anywhere else.

7. There is no 7, it just seemed too short with only 6 things.

Have fun and be safe.

Thanks to grant money that the chief was able to secure, we've upgraded or medication and hypodermic drop offs in the lobby. This turned out to be a popular service and the small containers we had were constantly getting filled up.

Please be sure to use the correct container for the items you are dropping off. Because of the new bigger size, dispatch will no longer be taking any items.

Oh. Hey, it's um, Corn Festival time again.

As of 5 minutes ago, Bainbridge Rd. is closed between SR 83 and Root Rd. It will not reopen until Monday, Aug. 15th, at 8 am. We'll put the Corn Festival informational post up in a bit.

A few weeks back, Ptlm. Calvin Cross was dispatched to a residence for an animal call. No dog, no raccoon. No kangaroo. This time it was a bat hanging from the driver's door.

Ptlm. Cross was able to remove the bat using a broom and relocated him to a nearby tree.

All in a day's work.

...

By the way, please don't drive us batty with all of your bat puns in the comments. (Good luck now. I think I just used the only one.)

Once again, we are getting a lot of vehicles entered throughout the night. Most are being rummaged through, but there are some thefts occuring too. Unfortunately these aren't confined to just one neighborhood this time.

The most important thing you can do is lock your car. I have not gone through every call, but I would venture a guess that very few, if none, of the vehicles had windows smashed out.

Secondly, knowing that this is happening, please keep an eye on your neigh...borhoods. When you get up to get a drink of water at 2:30 in the morning, take a second to look outside. If you see someone walking around give us a call and let us check them out.

As always, if you need us, give us a call 24/7 at 440-327-2191.

It's with a heavy heart that we have to report that Jim Hershey died tonight at the age of 80. Hersh was an iconic figure in the city of North Ridgeville and an unbelievable supporter of the police department, as well as Ranger athletics. Every year he eagerly awaited the end of year security detail at the high school and he would sit with our officers as they worked it just about every night.

Mr. Hershey retired from the North Ridgeville Fire Department years ago after fait...hfully serving this city.

He will be missed by everyone that ever knew him, and there are a lot.

Rest in peace, Hersh. We'll miss you.
