NWS WEATHER STATEMENT: A cold front is forecast to approach the coast early Tuesday morning with moderate to heavy rain and gusty southerly winds to 35 mph through Tuesday evening. This system will also bring snow to the higher peaks of the coastal range...including the Kalmiopsis Wilderness with a snow level near 4000 feet. Behind the front...the snow level will fall to around 3000 feet late Tuesday night with additional showers into Thursday.
Note: The attached photo was from last years mega-snow storm that hit the coast and dropped nearly 6 inches on the ground. Thousands of trees were knocked down and power was lost all over Coos County. Could we see a repeat? ~Mikel
