Matilde W. Combats Parkinson's With Exercise!
Six months ago, Matilde W. from Hasbrouck Heights, NJ decided to join a gym for the first time. Her goals were to combat the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease which included tremors, slowed movement, rigid muscles and impaired posture and balance.
Matilde started working out with a trainer three times a week, focusing on her flexibility, balance and muscle strength. On her days off from the trainer, she walks at the local malls with her sisters and daughter.
Impressed with her extraordinary improvement, Matilde's doctor at New York University Langone Movement Disorders Center encouraged her to sign up for a Parkinson’s charity walk in Central Park. With the help of her family, her trainers and her strong determination, Matilde was able to complete the 1.4 mile walk and raised almost $2,000.
