Leslie from Slow Food here. Mardi Gras is this week so I have New Orleans food on the mind. Yesterday at the University District Farmers Market, I picked up 5 of the 7 greens I'll use this week to make gumbo z'herbes. This is a *great* week for holidays with tasty food traditions. Mardi Gras, of course, with king cake, the Russian blini-focused Maslenitsa week wraps up today, Tuesday is both Pancake and Pączki (Polish jam- or cream-filled doughnut) Day.
