I feel compelled to share this story. Travelling across a bridge tonight near Clearwater Beach Florida I blew a tire. I just moved from Alaska and was complet...ely unprepaed for a flat tire. I had to pull my car over in a narrow emergency lane. It was pitch black out and 85 degrees. I had no flashlight and my cell battery was dying. Then, along came the police.

Just when I thought my night could not get worse, Deputies Voyer and Wodroska with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office humbled me nearly to tears. They didn't harrass or question me. Instead, they stopped traffic and changed my tire while I held their flashlight. I was speechless. I told them I didn't know what to say. They looked at me and said, "We are public servants. That's our job."

These two men restored my faith in humanity tonight. I will do my best to pay forward their sacrifice to another in need. This was a great reminder to me that life is about helping others. When we give, we receive so much more. May God bless and work through each of us everyday.

Please honor these men by sharing this story and the good work they are doing. They deserve to be recognized. Our communities across America need to see and hear these stories more often. Our police are working hard to serve our communiies everyday. We thank you for your service. Just speechless.

I had my first encounter today and now I feel threatened and worry I'll be harassed in the future. I am respectful person to all cops face to face regardless if... I feel I am right or wrong . Today a cop showed up to my g/f house and stands in the road as the g/f is handing her child to her ex. He likes to call cops for no reason. Cop says nothing to anyone. I stay back in the yard and decide to take a few pics so in court the g/f can show the judge how she is being harassed by the ex and the daughter thinks mommy is going to jail. Out of nowhere the cop tells me I am not allowed to take a pic of him. I respectfully call him sir and tell him I am legally allowed to take pictures as evidence. I immediately get threatened with jail if I take his pic without his permission.

Last time I checked this is a right under our Constitution. Did Pinellas county change the law and take away that right ?

I just don't get how a cop at a house I'm at is allowed to threaten me on my civil rights and I have no rights.

At 4:30 this afternoon I drove from 29th street N to my Walgreens on 49th Street N St Pete Headlights on, no music, signaling, driving carefully.

I narrowly..., really narrowly missed being into 3 fatal car accidents because of cell phones and loud music in the other car..

I know you know about this problem, but 3 times in one mile,

I need someone to know The laws and penalties are nt stiff enough, to stop texting. This should be like DUI.

Please share this with that person who needs more evidence Thank you

I have good and bad experiences with the police..As a teenager growing up in this county I got harassed constantly when walking around after dark and searched "...because theres been a lot of burglaries in the area" was always their "probable cause" all 50 times. I also think its outrageous if you get falsely arrested for something especially a felony that sounds terrible and the charge gets dropped it still stays on your record for LIFE...Any charge thats dropped should come off your record..You shouldn't be punished for something 10 years ago that you didn't even do an was blown out of proportion. Also got arrested for driving on a suspended not knowing it was suspended over insurance an told the cop that an still was charges with DWLSR "with knowledge"..the domestic shit gets crazy with them just looking for any excuse to arrest somebody just so the situations resolved an possibly ruining somebodys life in the process..for the bad encounters I have had just as many good ones tho..cops are people so you have your bully type dickhead power tripping disrespectful ones and your helpful caring decent ones..Same way when I was in the military...people are people See More

You guys are an amazing department. You follow the laws. You serve and protect. I respect that 100%.
I once served my country by becoming a Marine. Even with t...hat service I cannot begin to fathom the stress your job brings.
However I do have one complaint. It took years for the county to act on the homeless that fled the parks.
Yet now, when a new game comes out you truly put the parks on lockdown at night. Making players of the new Pokemon Go game head to the streets.
Wouldn't it be better, and more safe for the community if the parks hours in certain locations are changed. What is the harm in people playing outside in the night?
The daylight in Florida can bring heat stroke, it can bring dehydration, and much more.
It's time for change. Leave Pokemon Go players alone. Stop putting up fences, and waisting tax dollars on people of all ages just trying to play a game.

I called the Sherriff's office today because I was concerned my phone and wallet had been stolen. When I tracked my phone it kept saying it was off and I knew I... hadn't shut it down. I was reluctant to call them because I still thought it was more likely that I had just misplaced them but called anyway. Deputy B.A. Bender came to my house and filled out a report. After filling out the report he decided to take a look at my car and found both items sitting right on top of it! The heat had caused the phone to shut down which is why I couldn't track it. He was totally professional and did not make me feel badly for having called him out there. Very relieved that he found them. Thank you! See More

I really didn't know where to contact on giving a deputy a compliment so I guess I will write this review. My sister passed away on March 23rd. I was the one wh...o discovered her since we lived together. Deputy Butterfield was the first officer to respond and help as paramedics were on their way. He calmed me down as I was in disbelief and hysterical . His comforting words helped me through the worst morning of my life. He stayed with me until everyone left and made sure that my family and myself were ok before he left. He also checked up on us for the next couple days and keeping us updated on everything and seeing how we were holding up. I never once had an issue with the sheriffs department and I see why. They have great team officers, detectives etc. I owe a big thank you to Deputy Butterfield because if it were not for him this tragedy would have been more difficult to heal from. As each day in my life I won't be able to get over her passing I really do go back to his kind words and they do help me out. If there is anyway I could give him more recognition please let me know. I didn't want to call up the office because I know they are very busy. See More

an officer drove in the bike lane for 4 seconds before pulling an illegal u-turn without indication, then proceeded to pull in front of us two bikers into our p...ath and stopped halfway up a driveway and blocking the bike lane making us swerve into the traffic lane while he shouted "can you stop?" out of his passenger window. pretty sure that wasn't handled properly. our offense: my girlfriend had mistakenly forgot to turn on her rear light (i was behind her in the bike lane with my light on) and requested our first and last names, where we came from, where we were going, only her age and where we lived. while my girlfriend was answering (out of breath from the bike ride in the cold air) he asked her "why are you getting shitty with me?". he then accused me of not having my lights on until just down the road when i had turned my two front lights and my rear light on before i had even gotten on the bike. he should have handled that way differently, maybe PCSO should retrain the officers and remind them they are in fact public servants and should maybe treat the people with respect if they expect people to respect them. didn't get the officers name unfortunately. felt threatened and harassed not protected and served. Constantly see county sherrifs who think that they're above the law and can profile people. They fly down the roads, run red lights, are on power trips, and are... hypocrites. I've been pulled over in my OWN neighborhood because "there have been a lot of car break ins lately, and you don't exactly fit the profile". I asked the officer what that meant and he said "You know what I mean". I'm sorry what? Good to know that im getting harassed by the people whos salaries we pay. See More

I sent this notice out to a few news outlets and public forums in St Pete, Clearwater, and Tampa. If cops who lie are not held accountable, there is no justice... anywhere and that is one of the reasons LEO's across the country have been verbally condemned. Your case has all the hallmarks of a conspiracy which may include Christina Porrello and Bob Dillinger. I know for a fact Bernie McCabe and Baird knows about the lies. The fact that Judge Federico has not been advised is most suspicious.

12/04/2016 NEWS ALERT ~ Please help. We are in desperate need of a lawyer and outside help in Pinellas County, Florida. Cops claimed a confession and fingerprints as evidence to secure a bench warrant on a burglary charge from Judge Quesada when he was on the bench. Now, through Discovery, they admit they lied to the court and never had that evidence, but he is still being held in the Pinellas County jail on a $200,000 bond because they ask another judge (Federico) to increase the bond from $50,000 to $200,000. His PD is afraid to "make waves". There is nothing more devastating than cops who lie. One, in particular, named James Howard is or was, the head of the Policemen's Benevolent Association in Pinellas County.

I am in contact with FDLE.

I have to say I am blown away by the amazing effort that officer Cooper displayed on Saturday night. Not only bringing in a lost animal, but when the owners mic...rochip information was not updated he looked up the owners new address, drove to their house and alerted them to what had happened. This also happened to be a service dog for an army veteran and having them reunited, without any costs, is in amazing job. See More

Two detectives and an officer harassed my neighbors for over 4 hours over supposedly a suspended license and then acted threatening and aggressive towards mysel...f and girlfriend when I questioned why they were in my front yard for that time. They kept a small crying child 10ft from her father the entire time the one detective was yelling and making aggressive hand gestures. They refused to give me their info (at one point saying the detectives were Largo PD which confused Largo PD VERY much when I called) and instead asked for my own info. I have their license plate numbers for two of the vehicles that were parked in my parking space and I've been told to expect a call from their SOs today to continue with my complaint. Stg. Green is in charge of the two detectives who were most verbally combative with myself and girlfriend while a Sgt. Montgomery is Dep. Wilsons CO, who moved his (Wilsons) car for ME to be on dash cam if you'd like to review the conversation I attempted to have with him and the aftermath that you should have that recorded. Odd that it wasn't pointed at the actual "investigation" the entire time.
Doing this all in front of a 400+ unit neighborhood ruins any ability for community policing and dispatch seemed SUPER surprised considering they said they only had ONE unit on scene. So basically two individuals who refused to identify themselves as officers acted in a threatening manner in my own home while another stood guard over THEM. FOR A SUSPENDED LICENSE on someone they weren't even questioning. 3 SUPER white cops harassing a dude with dreads doesn't look racial AT ALL...
The most ironic and sad thing is, I wouldn't have been involved at all if the three cars hadn't taken up 5 reserved spots in front of our building and stood around trying to be intimidating.
Nearly every officer involved lied and the only reason I have any info is because I took plate numbers and Joann at dispatch was very helpful in getting me to the correct departments to identify those involved and still was only able to confirm 1 officer on the scene even though from the pictures I took, there are clearly 3.
Oh and I'll be campaigning against any funding increases or any elected official that continues to support these types of actions.

Testimony Time.... I wanted to take this time to share something that happened to me today. I was in the Chick-fil-A drive thru and for some reason I could not ...find my money. I just knew I put it in my pocket. The cashier looks down at me and laughed....he said that's ok because the person in front of you just paid for your lunch. I said ARE YOU KIDDING ME. He said no ma'am he also said keep the change. I have to give props to whom they're due. Thank you to the nicely officer from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office because that was the vehicle that was in front of me. I can only imagine the countless acts of kindness that this officer probably does with people he encounters on a day to day basis.
The same pocket that I checked 5 times that had no money in it was the same pocket that had the money in it when I got home. It was the strangest thing. GOD let me know today that even when you think you are doing it by yourself he's got your back. I hope this blesses someone.

So..... I got pulled over today for my own fault, rolling through a stop sign.

What could have been a REALLY crappy experience turned out to be not so bad....

Yes I got a ticket, however, I was respectful and so was the deputy and he saw that I had a sick kiddo in the back seat and tried to get me on my way quickly.

Way to go PCSO for having deputies that are not only nice but compassionate while upholding the laws !!

I'm proud to be a Pinellas county resident!!!!

Orange County Sheriff's Office, Florida

It has been a difficult time for the men and women of the OCSO as we celebrate the life of 35-year-old Deputy First Class Norm Lewis.
FUNERAL SERVICES HAVE BEE...N POSTPONED due to a family emergency.
The funeral will now be SUNDAY January 15th at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
Our "Big Norm" was an agency star who always had a smile on his face.
Norman C. Lewis was born in Manhattan, New York. After graduating from Port Charlotte High School in Port Charlotte, Florida, Norman showed his talents on the football field and in the classroom at UCF. He received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in December 2004.
In January 2005, Norman applied for sponsorship to the Law Enforcement Academy and was hired as a Deputy Sheriff Recruit. On August 15, 2005, Norman Lewis took an oath as a Deputy Sheriff promising to protect and defend the citizens of Orange County as a member of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Norman was assigned to the Sector IV Uniform Patrol Division and quickly established himself as a hardworking, dedicated Deputy Sheriff. His supervisors recognized him as one of the most dependable and proactive members of his squad, especially when working traffic violations.
As he progressed in his career, Norman followed his passion for motorcycles and curtailing aggressive drivers and joined the agency’s Motor/DUI unit. It was there that his positive and professional attitude, coupled with his knowledge of traffic laws, really made an impact. He was consistently recognized as a top performer in the Motor Unit, receiving an award for the Most Traffic Stops and Most Speeding Citations.
Additionally, he was recognized by citizens he pulled over for his great attitude and positive demeanor. Supervisors received several calls about “that deputy who is always smiling” commenting about how friendly Norman was during their encounter. One motorist wrote “I am now poorer in my wallet than when we met, I’m richer for the experience of someone who truly exemplifies a good cop.”
Not only did Norman have a smile for the citizens he served, but for all those that knew him. He was always willing to take a new deputy under his wing and share his knowledge. Norman’s devotion to his squad members, family, friends and the citizens of Orange County was a shining example that all should aspire to.
Norman is survived by his parents, Norma and John Lewis, his law enforcement family, and the many, many friends whose lives he touched. He is preceded in death by his brother, Darryl Smiley and sister, Cecilia Jean Lewis.
Please keep the OCSO and all who work with first responders in your hearts today. #BigNorm #FallenHero

This morning would be what I would call "The Ripple Effect". Once on...e thing went wrong- everything else seemed to follow closely behind moving to be larger than the first. I truly felt like it was the end of the world when my vehicle broke down this afternoon on 54th Avenue North. Never experiencing a situation where I were rendered clueless, this nice amazing Deputy (sorry if your title is higher than this) pulled up to the gas station and not only gave me a ride back to the vehicle, but also provided me some extra gas out of his own pocket. For him to show me such compassion, I am so humble and grateful. To show a complete stranger such love, may you be eternally blessed... I know you blessed me. I wish I knew his name to address this properly, but this was the next best thing. THANK YOU!!! See More
