As #NPE2018 approaches, PLASTICS Chief Economist, Perc Pineda, shares his thoughts on the economic landscape:

Plastics Industry Association economist Perc Pineda says low energy prices, technology advances, and mechanization/automation are keys to manufacturing growth.

The plastics industry has a constructive role to play in the infrastructure plan mentioned by President Trump in his State of the Union speech last night, noted... William Carteaux, President and CEO of the PLASTICS Industry Association. “Plastic materials can perform as well, or better, than more traditional materials, and often at a fraction of the cost to the American taxpayer,” said Carteaux in a statement issued following the address. Living in the Los Angeles area, I confess that I am as concerned with the state of our roads as I am of the state of the union, and Carteaux's comment reminded me of a project in the Netherlands that has some relevance.
