Steve Rosborough Funny how red states take the bulk of welfare. farm subsides cost as much as regualr welfare and corporate welfare is huge and all going to greedy republicans their stupid screeching base defends it agaist their own interests.
A judge who rules on an issue not brought before the court by either side, an issue that does not apply to the case in question? In Canada, I expect that would be considered an abuse of judicial powers that would be subject to sanction or removal from office by the Canadian Judicial Council. You really have to wonder when someone has that many bias allegations and has had to recuse himself from that many cases.
This is actually a useful measure by President Obama. We need to do something about 5 MILLION people that does not entail treating them less than human. We might as well make their stay here secure (removing them would be just as costly if not more) and make them productive members of society.
Don't worry, everybody. This will be overturned on appeal, or by SCOTUS. This "judge" should be removed from the court for allowing politics to influence his decisions, if not for all of his past problems. Of COURSE he's a Bush appointee. That's why he's against everything President Obama does.
I think endangering the lives of 5 million people and the health of their families is unconstitutional. They are here to stay. There is no plan to humanely deport them (which would be enormously expensive). On top of that, they are useful workers and would be a great asset to this nation. We need to give them the path to citizenship! Our treatment of immigrants in containment "camps" is already disgusting and unconstitutional. We need to get them out and doing something productive.
I thought the republicans didn't like activist judges -- I guess only when they do something really crappy. It must awful to be a republican. So much hate and authoritarianism.
Well so much for conservatives pushing the appointment of a constitutional judge. Everyone knows that conservative values are so much more important than our constitution
The pundits were just hailing Jeb's entry in to the presidential race because he speaks Spanish and has a Mexican-American wife. Therefore, he must favor immigration reform.
Now guess what, a Bush-appointed judge just ruled Obama's gesture is "unconstitutional" - even though several of Obama's Republican predecessors did the same thing,
This decision, made by an Bush-appointed judge, is one excellent reason not to give any credence to Jeb's mastery of Spanish as a sign of of being simpático to the trials and tribulations of undocumented immigrants.
In fact, Jeb's political deals, which will mean more crazy reactionary judicial appointments, is one excellent reason to get rid of the entire GOP.
Just another racial right winger who is willing to ignore common sense and reason to oppose anything Obama is for. The law and precedent mean nothing to those people.
Is everyone missing the NOT BINDING due it not being the scope of the case. A federal judge cant rule on a Criminal Case and throw in "And I strike this action and this law with this decision too. Even though I was not asked to rule on it."
Robert Williams "The law and precedent mean nothing to those people" - what about the laws we have about coming to the country legally? those laws don't matter? Why should we reward criminal behavior? And how is it fair to those that have paid their way to come here the legal way?
