ICYMI - Our recent POGO investigation highlights the need for more oversight of external influences in Congress.
We analyzed the fellowships in Senate that are paid by outside entities. Some of these fellows were working on matters of material interest to their sponsors, and many failed to disclose the source of their outside funding.
These fellowships can be a valuable resource for both Congress and non-government professionals across disciplines. But without proper oversight this program may be misused. POGO urges the House to adopt rules to require public disclosure of fellows paid by outside entities.

In our new podcast, Congressional Fellows (employees who are embedded on Congressional staffs) are collecting salaries from outside groups, including industry. It sounds like every lobbyist's fantasy. But it's not fiction - it's a reality on Capitol Hill.

The last potential justification for continuing to fund one of the U.S.' most wasteful nuclear facilities, the $110 billion MOX project, is now gone.

The program is not only over budget, it is behind schedule, its technology is questionable at best and it lacks even a single potential customer. Why continue funding this textbook example of government pork?

Russian President Vladimir Putin's decision to withdraw from a nuclear deal with the US will affect the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility (MOX), a multi-billion dollar construction project, and a boondoggle that has been kept alive by politicians, like South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham, dete...

After the troubled Minerals Management Service was successfully dissolved in 2011, the fight to ensure taxpayers receive their fair share continues as good government groups like POGO argue that minerals on public lands should not be given away for free. POGO recently published the top five public n...

There was a great article highlighting the Foreign Agents Registration Act earlier this week - might make it worth reading our own in-depth analysis of the importance of FARA and its weaknesses.

When American lobbyists working on behalf of foreign interests fail to follow the law, or the Justice Department fails to enforce it, the American people are left in the dark.

Former members of Congress make millions of dollars representing countries that straddle the line between allies and headaches for U.S.

We took a deep dive into a Congressional fellowship program that doesn’t get too much attention despite the conflicts of interest that we perceived.

Federal News Radio's Scott Maucione spoke with Lydia Dennett, an investigator at POGO, to learn more. Even if you've looked at our latest report on it, it's worth a listen!
