Tennessee Wesleyan University officials and students celebrated their record-setting enrollment of 1,177 for the 2024-2025 school year last week.
Bryson Hiefnar had fumbled away possession the last time. The next time Meigs County's offense took the field, the senior quickly put that turnover behind him and put the Tigers on his shoulders.
Hiefnar erupted for 206 of his 217 rushing yards in the second half, scoring all three of the Tigers' fourth-quarter touchdowns that finished off their 35-3 win over Sweetwater on Friday at King Berrong Stadium to begin Region 3-3A play.
Meigs (3-0, 1-0 Region 3-3A), who amassed a team rushing total of 337 yards, ran its winning streak against the Wildcats to a full decade. And that 10th consecutive win over its traditional rival came at the expense of the Tigers' previous head coach, Tommy Bunch Jr., who left alma mater Meigs during the offseason to take the reins at Sweetwater.
