AIGA Remembers Senator John McCain

With decades of tireless service, Senator John McCain demonstrated the traits of commitment, honor and integrity while putting others before himself. His advocacy for issues impacting Indian Country is compared to none. Senator McCain co-authored the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988. However, his efforts weren’t focused only on gaming. He believed in and respected the Tribes’ sovereign authority with Indian self-determination and self-governance. The Arizona Indian Gaming Association sends our prayers to the family of Senator John McCain. His legacy with Indian Country and others will be long remembered.

The Arizona Indian Gaming Association would like to recognize the life and accomplishments of Rodney Lewis. A United States Army Veteran, accomplished attorney and dedicated advocate for tribal rights, Lewis was the first Native American to be admitted to the Arizona State Bar and the first member of an Indian tribe to win a case before the U.S. Supreme Court.

We are deeply saddened by this loss but know his legacy will live on through his family and the long-term impact of his many contributions to the tribal community.
