This morning, Executive Director - UWA and Chairman National Wildlife Crime Coordination Taskforce (NWCCTF) Sam Mwandha launched NWCCTF’s Secure Information Sharing Platform at Skyz Hotel, Naguru. Wildlife Trafficking is one of the leading transnational crimes in the world. It is categorized by UN to be among serious crimes alongside drug, human and arms trafficking.
As such, the organized syndicates in wildlife trafficking require combined capacities of law enforcement agen...cies to outsmart the organized and increasingly sophisticated criminal gangs operating various rackets cross the globe. The launch was closed by Maj. General Leopald Kyanda UPDF’s Chief of Staff.
NWCCTF is composed of various agencies that include Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities, UPDF, UPF-INTERPOL & CID, URA, Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, CAA, FIA, ODPP, ISO, ESO, NFA & NEMA. The Secure Information Sharing Platform was possible with funding from Wildlife Conservation Society.
