đ Did you miss the ARC Handicap Webinar earlier this month? Don't worry - we've got you covered! đĨ The webinar is now available on YouTube at the link below for you to catch up on all the essential information.
đ Remember, it's mandatory for all racers to watch the webinar before scheduling your handicap flight. Once you've watched it, you must reach out to your respective Handicap Coordinator. Your participation is key to ensuring a smooth and fair race for all!
đ°ī¸âī¸ From then to now: Let's take a journey through time and marvel at the evolution of women's air racing! đ
Back in the days of the Women's Air Derby, pilots navigated through "on to" type races with scheduled noon and night control stops, flying practically together. Weather conditions remained uniform, allowing for daily standings to be released to the media.
Fast forward to the present Air Race Classic, where racers tackle routes spanning approximately 2,400 statute mile...s over four days flown in daytime VFR. Here's the twist: each aircraft is assigned a handicap speed. The goal? To surpass this handicap speed as much as possible, strategizing with elements like weather and winds. It's all about mastering the "perfect" cross-country flight.
Unlike the past, official ARC standings remain under wraps until the final entrant crosses the finish line and the data is processed. In fact, the last arrival could clinch the victory, adding an element of suspense until the very end! đŠī¸â¨
