'"We reached our new home about the time the State came into the Union. It was a wild region, with many bears and other wild animals still in the woods." - Abraham Lincoln

The Lincolns arrived in Indiana around this time in 1816. They traveled the well-worn roads in Kentucky to the Ohio River. After crossing the river on a ferry, they traveled on an old Buffalo Trace, cut their way through the last few miles, and finally arrived. They still had much to do to make it a home, but this part of their move was over.
