2025 marks the 50th anniversary of King County Fire Protection District #50.
Based on our research, the Skykomish Volunteer Fire Department was officially established around 1931, providing service to Skykomish and unofficially to the surrounding areas. In 1975, voters approved a ballot measure to formally create King County Fire Protection District #50. The formation of the district allowed official fire services to extend from Baring to Stevens Pass.

Engage in public and member fundraising for charitable purposes, while promoting the
image and welfare of the fire service. Sponsor and support education programs for the community and its children. Support other charitable groups. This is the first time I am using my birthday fundraiser on Facebook and my first thought was how deserving SKYKOMI…SH VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION is. I am hoping to raise at least $1500! No yard burning: Fire Marshal issues Stage 1 Burn Ban, restricting yard debris fires in unincorporated areas. This ban, which prohibits yard debris fires and fires set to clear land, takes effect Monday at 12:01 a.m., June 30. More info: kingcounty.gov/fire
