We are signing off for the evening with an update on the provincial wildfire situation.

A downtrend in temperatures accompanied by scattered showers in many areas of the province has helped to lower the fire danger rating. While this cooler weather has helped to provide a bit of relief to the overall wildfire situation, many areas that needed rain did not see anything, and there is still a risk for new fire starts or increased fire behaviour to occur. While we continue to face challenging conditions and widespread fire activity, crews have made good progress on several fires throughout the weekend. There are now 546 wildfires burning across the province.

We’ll return tomorrow to continue providing up-to-date information as soon as we can.
