Britain’s Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson had private meetings in New York with key advisors to President-elect Donald Trump. Today Johnson is in Washington, D.C., meeting with congressional leaders. Britain wants very much to restore the “special relationship” our two countries have shared in recent decades.

I have numerous friends in the U.K., including current and former government officials. My advice is if the U.K. wants a good relationship with Trump/Pence they should b...egin by doing everything in their power to prevent further anti-Israel actions at the January 15th European Union meeting in Paris and/or at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

The UNSC just stabbed Israel in the back on the eve of Chanukah with a resolution denying the legitimacy of Jews living in major parts of Jerusalem. The Obama Administration failed to use our veto to stop that obscene resolution. Just as bad, the U.K. actually voted in favor of it. It was a shameful moment.

In a few days, Donald Trump and Mike Pence will restore a foreign policy that stands with Israel instead of betraying Israel. The United Kingdom should join the new administration in that effort because it is the right thing to do and it will help ensure that the U.S./U.K. relationship will strengthen too.
